A wistful romance and action comedy all in one, I Love How You Love Me (a.k.a. The Love Winner) is a small and entertaining affair bringing together stars from Taiwan, China, and Hong Kong. Taiwan pop idol Jimmy Lin and Mainland starlet Crystal Liu Yifei pair up again after the period drama Tian Long Ba Bu, while idol drama heartthrob Ambrose Hsu (Lavender) sparks romance with Hong Kong actress Kristy Yang (Storm Riders). Set in the early 1990's, after The Persian Gulf War began, a 30 year old man passes himself off as Colonel Kuhio a pilot for an American Special Unit. He also boasts that he is the offspring of Kamehameha I (the first King of Hawaii) and a distant relative of Queen Elizabeth of England. In actuality, the man is a marriage swindler looking for his next big score. Shinobu Nagano (Yasuko Matsuyuki) is a bento box shop owner who falls for the smooth talking Col. Kuhio. Kuhio has already proposed to Shinobu, which she has accepted. Kuhio has promised Shinobu that her wedding dress will be designed by the same designer as Princess Diana when she married. As they prepare for their wedding, Col. Kuhio approaches new target Haru Yasuoka (Hikari Mitsushima). Haru Yasuoka works in a museum of natural history. Col. The story opens with a monologue from a young film-maker looking back on his first, lost love. Having just completed his first film, he is supposed to be preparing a draft of his next script. But feeling restless and a little lost, he is instead on a boat, heading for a motel on a remote island, where 10 years earlier, he once vacationed with his first girlfriend. Back then, they swore to meet there again in ten years time and he is keeping that date, although he strongly doubts that she would show. As the days pass and the time for them to meet again comes closer, he becomes the portrait of a man, waiting for a past, which may or may not return to him.

Ji-yeon, a tollgate ticket girl, is frightened by a mysterious black car, which pays a bloodstained ticket fee at midnight. Her fear deepens after her colleague, Jong-sook, tells her that 12 years earlier a prisoner transport vehicle caused a traffic accident wherein all the prisoners involved died - and some of the corpses disappeared. Afterwards, a murder occurred near the tollgate on February 29th every four years. Soon, odd events become increasingly frequent, usually involving a doppelganger of Ji-yeon. When Jong-sook is killed on the fateful February 29th, Ji-yeon - with the help of two detectives - starts looking into matters herself.
