After suffering from serial paranormal events, a wealthy family living in LA summons a young rising shaman duo Hwa Rim and Bong Gil to save the newborn of the family. Once they arrive, Hwa Rim senses a dark shadow of their ancestor has latched on the family in a so-called 'Grave Calling'.

In order to exhume the grave and relieve the ancestor, Hwa Rim seeks help from top-notch geomancer Sang Deok and mortician Yeong Geun. To their dismay, the four find the grave at a shady location in a remote village in Korea. Unaware of the consequences, the exhumation is carried out, unleashing a malevolent force buried underneath.

A former principle (Nagatoshi Sakamoto) lives in a shut down elementary school. The ex-principle lives peacefully there, while repairing the old school. One day, a decision to dismantle the school is made. Noda (Hidetoshi Nishijima), a former student at the elementary school, comes back to town to work as a museum employee. He visits his former school to retrieve articles housed in the school. Noda also has a small secret about a time capsule buried at the school. The time capsule was buried during the last day for the school. Noda meets his former principle and also former teacher Ayako and her daughter Ritsuko (Chieko Baisho). While seeing them, Noda's memories of his school days come back. Ayako lived in a nursing home, but she is being moved to a large hospital in the next town. With her daughter helping her to move, she stops at her old school.

"Mama" follows various characters as their touching stories all center around mothers. Won Jae contracts an incurable disease and can not walk. His mother Dong Sook supports his son by delivering yogurt. Seung Chul is a ruddy gangster, but in front of his mother, Ok Joo , he becomes a mild-mannered son. Meanwhile Eun Sung is busy taking care of her famous opera singer mother Hee Kyung who has unpredictable and haggard character.

After failing to kill himself by jumping off a bridge, the man is washed up on a deserted island in the middle of the river, but within view of the city's high-rises. He attempts to escape, but soon accepts his fate and the challenges in living on the island. A reclusive young woman, who takes close-up shots of the moon and has not left her apartment in years, spies him on the island and comes to think of him as her own alien.
