When high school student Kim Eun Mi discovered that she was pregnant, her entire life changed in an instant. Determined to keep her baby, Eun Mi did just that. Raising her daughter, Jin Hee, on her own, the two have quite literally grown up together.

Now in her forties, Eun Mi works as a physical therapist while twenty-nine-year-old Jin Hee works as an officer at the Namchon Police Substation. Despite being an adult herself, Jin Hee still lives with her mother; a fact which leads to an endless stream of bickering between the two. Though both mother and daughter will agree that they love each other dearly, the two just can’t seem to find a way to get along these days.

As if struggling to find a way to deal with her daughter wasn’t enough, Eun Mi’s life takes a complicated turn when Dr. Park Jin Hong suddenly appears before her. While Eun Mi tries to make sense of the mysterious Dr. Park, Jin Hee struggles to find a way to get along with her works new director, Eun Jae Won.

Yoon Hyun Suh (Ahn Jae Wook) is an adoptee who grows up in the United States. He becomes successful as a top manager of a hotel chain. He is assigned to do business in Korea. He falls in love with Choi Young In (Lee Bo Young), a sassy concierge from the hotel he is assigned to. There is trouble still looming because Kang Soo Jin (Oh Yoon Ah) who is Hyun Suh's best friend's ex-wife comes back with vengeance in mind. The three become entagled in this love triangle.

This drama shows the romance between a warrior from the ancient times and a female doctor from the modern times, their love transcending time and space. It will also tell the story about the process of making a true king.

Yoo Eun Soo (Kim Hee Sun) is a 33-year old plastic surgeon in the year 2012. Storyline covers periods from the 1960s to the present day. Various historical incidents like the Vietnam War, May 16 military coup d'etat and the assassination of Korean President Park Chung Hee.

Ki Tae, described as Korea's first entertainer. Ki Tae debuted at an American military base stage and worked in the show business during the 1960s. Ki Tae is the son of the richest man in Soonyang. He works at a cinema, which is one of several businesses owned by his father, but he is more interested in having fun than work. Ki Tae is just a troublemaker to his father. One day his father checks his account book and finds that some numbers are missing. Ki Tae explains that he invested 10,000,000 won on making a movie to show in the cinema on Korean Thanksgiving Day. His father stipulates that this is the last chance for Ki Tae.

Suk Chul Soo and Na Young Hee are a newly wedded couple with an age gap of 14 years. This is a drama that tells the story of a couple who just had a baby because of a one night stand. It will portray the modern generation's view on love and marriage as well as the responsibility of raising a child. Park Byung Ho was thoughtless and threw away his child for a better income and life who later regrets this and learns to love.

Seong Ri and Kyeong Bin are twins born via artificial insemination, later separated at birth.
