    Han Tae-Kyung (Park Yoo-Chun) works as a presidential guard. He goes to the hospital to see his father who is a high ranking government official. His father got into a car accident last night and is now in critical condition. Han Tae-Kyung only watches his father through a window for a short time before going back to work.

    Meanwhile, President Lee Dong-Whi (Son Hyun-Joo) is in his third year of service as the South Korean President. He received huge support during his first year, but his approval rating has declined ever since. A special prosecutor is now investigating President Lee Dong-Whi's finances prior to becoming the President. To cheer himself up, the President decides to make a visit to a traditional market.

    During the President's visit to the traditional market, Han Tae-Kyung's phone keeps ringing. He feels that something might be wrong with his father. Then, a man throws white powder on the President and the bodyguards respond accordingly. After the incident, Han Tae-Kyung receives a text message that his father has passed away. Meanwhile, Han Tae-Kyung is reprimanded because the President was hit with the powder. He leaves his badge and gun behind and goes to his father's funeral.

    At the funeral, a woman talks to Han Tae-Kyung. She asks him if he has seen a white envelope among the things his father left behind. She also tells him that her father's car accident might have been premeditated murder. She gives him her name card. Her name is Yoon Bo-Won (Park Ha-Sun) and she is a police officer.

    Soon, Han Tae-Kyung hears from a dying man that "The President will die on March 5th".     In the Joseon Dynasty period, the kingdom was enveloped in a political maelstrom. Cheo Seon was born as a posthumous child and separated from his mother immediately. He was raised by Weol Hwa and the old Swe Gwi, who ran the eunuch school. When he meets So Hwa, the daughter of a powerful noble, he falls in love with her immediately. He voluntarily becomes a eunuch to be close to So Hwa and is assigned to work for Cho Chi Gyeom, a senior eunuch. Entering the royal palace, he sees King Sung Jong and So Hwa spend their first night together. He becomes So Hwa's loyal protector.

    As the political battles rage on among the courtesans and wives in the palace, So Hwa is chosen by the king to be his queen and Cheo Seon vows to be her loyal servant. But So Hwa is eventually dethroned as the queen and leaves the palace in disgrace. Cheo Seon helplessly watches these events unfold and he secretly helps So Hwa. But in a cruel twist of fate, he is the one chosen to execute So Hwa's death sentence by serving her a bowlful of poison. After So Hwa dies, he looks after her son King Yeon San as if he were his own son.

    This movie consists of 5 different stories:

    1. "Seaside Flower" (Director Park Kyung Hee): Eun Hye suffering from Down’s syndrome entered school earlier than others did. Friends from school make fun of her because of her slow speech. She’s always dignified and doesn't care about what they’re saying, though. She’s pretty good at playing a flute, sending a text message by cell-phone, watching movie on the computer and telling an old story. 2. "Hey, Man~" (Director Ryoo Seung Wan): Woo Shik thinks ‘man’ should be ‘manly’ in every way. What he’s talking about, with his friends at a bar just tells us how often and seriously we discriminate against others out there; sexual discrimination, racial discrimination, treating waitresses so bad, homophobia, judging people by the way they look and education back ground, etc. In the end, all of his friends left him behind and he came over to a stranger saying “you know what I mean, ‘cause you a ‘man’!”

    3. "A boy with the Knapsack" (Director Chung Ji Woo): 19-year-old Hyun Lee and Jin Sun got to take refuge from North Korea. Jin Sun is always troubled with her classmates and an owner of her part-time work place cheated her. She’s all alone at home. Her silence is made out of a lack of communication with the world, which makes people think she’s deaf. Hyun Lee misses his hometown so much and buys a lot of gifts for his parents and stuff them in his knapsack just like his routine.

    4. "Someone Grateful" (Director Jang Jin): There are two guys are sitting face to face in a basement; Kyung Shin who was caught from intervention in the student movement, and a police officer, Joo Joong who’s in charge of torture. The student doesn't confess what he did and who else involved in the movement and the officer keeps on torturing him. By the way, the police officer spoke out how he’s been working as an informal worker at a police office, which he must work over time without any special bonus and any insurance from work. He’s consoled by the one who he’d arrested.

    5. "Jongno, Winter" (Director Kim Dong Won): It’s very early morning on December 9th, 2003. A Chinese Korean, Kim Won Seop is found out frozen to death on the street of Seoul. One year later, a director’s searching for the deed of him somewhere around the area where he died. When it was very late and freezing night, Kim Won Seop got lost on the way to a strike site that was to stop a deportation order and to amend the Korean Residents Code. He’d been looking for some help from starving and cold all night, but nobody found him.

When Hae Joo asks Dong Gun what he looks like, Dong Gun inexplicably describes someone from his high school that he looked up to. His name was Jun Ha. They soon fall for each other and see each other day for 3 years. Everything changes once Hae Joo receives a phone call from her doctor. The doctor tells her that a donor has been found and she can soon see again, once she has an operation. Dong Gun again feels like the Beast and he doesn't know what to do once the Beauty gets her vision back. Things are further complicated when Dong Gun's high school friend, Jun Ha, randomly crosses path with Hae Joo and falls for her as well.
