Do Hyun, a college student and his friends have lost their childhood memories and they are living their lives in their own way. One day, Do Hyun is introduced to Jin Ho who lost his parents in an accident as a child. Do Hyun’s friends also heard Jin Ho's story and they decided to become Jin-ho’s friends. In the meantime, Do Hyun gets interested in hypnosis that Jin Ho receives to treat his trauma due to an accident and he tries to do it. Since that day, Do Hyun and his friends keep experiencing strange things and they all feel to have been hypnotized as recollecting memories of Seung Min, who was with them at a nursing home when they were young but already dead. Who hypnotized them and why did the memories of Seung Min come back?

On the first day of attending his new high school, Park Sae Ro Yi punches his classmate Jang Geun Won, who was bullying another classmate. The bully is the son of CEO Jang Dae Hee. The bully's father runs restaurant business Jagga where Park Sae Ro Yi’s own father works. CEO Jang Dae Hee demands to Park Sae Ro Yi that he apologizes to his son, but Park Sae Ro Yi refuses. Because of his refusal, Park Sae Ro Yi gets expelled from school and his father gets fired from his job. Soon, an accident takes place. Park Sae Ro Yi’s father dies in a motorcycle accident caused by his ex-classmate Jang Geun Won. Burning with anger, Park Sae Ro Yi viciously beats Jang Geun Won. He is soon arrested and receives prison time for violent assault. Park Sae Ro Yi decides to destroy the Jagga company and take revenge upon CEO Jang Dae Hee and his son Jang Geun Won. Once Park Sae Ro Yi is released from prison, he opens a restaurant in Itaewon, Seoul. Jo Yi Seo, who is popular on social media, joins Park Sae Ro Yi’s restaurant and works there as a manager. She has feelings for Park Sae Ro Yi.

Choi Kang Chi, born as a half-human-half-mythical-creature, goes through struggles in order to live more like a human than anyone else despite not being able to become human. Two young slaves, Ddol Bok and his friend Dam, survive but neither knows the other has. Ddol Bok blames the king and vows to kill him to avenge the deaths of everyone he loved. He spends several years becoming a great warrior. Dam, who has a photographic memory, becomes a court lady called So Yi, but she feels so guilty about her role in the other slaves' deaths that she is mute.

Ddol Bok returns to the palace under the name of Kang Chae Yoon in order to kill the king. However, he becomes embroiled in the mystery surrounding the deaths of several Hall of Worthies scholars. The deaths were caused by a secret society called "Hidden Root," which was created long ago by followers of Jeong Do Jeon, with the goal of giving more power to ministers and less to the king. King Tae Jong killed Jeong Do Jeon and all of his family except his nephew, Jeong Gi Joon, who is now the leader of Hidden Root and lives in disguise not far from King Se Jong.

In 1985, Seung-Ho & Dong-Sik are best friends at the same middle school. They both have a crush on Myeong-Hee, but she doesn't have the same feelings for either of them. One day, the two best friends make a bet to find out what's on Myeong-Hee's mind. But, the next day, Myeong-Hee is found dead & apparently raped. Police officers investigate and finger Dong-Sik's older brother Kyung-Sik, who is mentally ill, as the prime suspect. Since that time, the relationship between Seung-Ho and Dong-Sik rapidly disintegrates.

In 1991, Seung-Ho, a college student activist, is imprisoned. While in prison Seung-Ho meets Kyung-Sik, who is serving time for the murder of Myeong-Hee. Seung-Ho questions Kyung-Sik about the murder, but Kyung-Sik only repeats the same word. Suddenly, Kyung-Sik kills himself. Because of Kyung-Sik's death, Seung-Ho and Dong-Sik have an uncomfortable meeting.

By 1998, and since the conviction of Kyung-Sik as a murderer, Dong-Sik's family is scattered. His older sister Jin-Hee works as a prostitute in Seoul and is murdered. Seung-Ho, now a prosecutor, takes the case and meets Dong-Sik.

Byeong Hee is having mental problems because of the sudden loss of his wife. Su Jang is wacky, lacks social skills, doesn't have a big dream in life, but dreams of miraculous love. These two disparate strangers are set to soon cross paths.

Su Jang was dumped by her first love Park Ji Min (Seung Ri) and has been stalking him for the last ten years. To get a better view of Ji Min's house, she breaks into his neighbour's house owned by Byeong Hee.

Once she enters Byeong Hee's house, she finds him attempting to hang himself and saves him. She then ties his hands and legs together and locks him up. Love is about to sprout from the strangest of places.
