In his early years, Oda Nobunaga picked up the nickname of "The Fool of Owari" due to his bizarre behavior. He later married Nohime, but their relationship was not very good. Kiryu Kaoru is a lonely robot engineer. Since he was a child, he has lived without feeling that he exists. To counteract his anxieties, he was devoted to developing his own android as another "me" in an old Western-style building that no one visits now. One day, his half-brother, who he hadn't seen for a long time, visited.

Seven years ago, when Kaji Hideki was still a surgeon at Teito Medical University’s Maebashi 27th Branch Hospital, he carried out an operation in absolute secrecy. That operation saved the life of Osawa Shoichiro, who recovered from a brain tumor and went on to win the elections in Gunma Prefecture. Several weeks later, Kaji received “red and white Manju buns” as thanks. He went to an exclusive club in Ginza with this money and spent the night with a hostess called Shimada Misato. Time went by. One day, Kaji, who was now a surgeon at Higashi Teito University Hospital, was contacted by Osawa who asked to meet. Kaji was excited to receive a call from Osawa who also served the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare and was acquainted with Hiruma Shigekatsu, the director of Higashi Teito University Hospital. Kaji’s career slumped after he met the freelance surgeon Daimon Michiko. He seized this opportunity to revive his career and triumphantly returned to Maebashi 27th Branch Hospital. What he did not expect were allegations of a surgical error seven years ago. To make matters worse, a 6-year-old girl Shimada Nanami showed up at the hospital with a letter written by Misato. It said, “This child is the treasure that God gave us on that miraculous night.” Kaji could not ignore Nanami who called him “daddy” and decided to let her stay at his apartment for the time being. Meanwhile, he tried to get in touch with the neurosurgeon Kida Mitsuhiko who had been a colleague at the hospital, in order to review the operation that took place seven years ago. However, it turned out that Kida had already canceled his mobile phone contract and resigned from the hospital. While Kaji was feeling at a loss, Osawa experienced another headache and visited Maebashi 27th Branch Hospital. Before long, the rumor that Kaji had an illegitimate child spread within the hospital because of head nurse Furuya Sanae. Then some facts regarding Nanami’s mother came to light along with the shocking truth about the surgery seven years earlier.

Kouno Etsuko loves fashion and dreams of working at the editorial department of the company which publishes the fashion magazine ‘Lassy’. She has been taking the employment exam for several years. However, she is constantly rejected because the editorial department has not been hiring for some time. Even so, Etsuko perseveres and goes for the interview every year to the extent that she is now a famous person in the company. One night a week later, Etsuko receives a phone call from the human resource department about a job offer and is overjoyed. And so, she heads to Lassy’s editorial department in high spirits on her first day of work. She is told that she has got the department wrong and is designated to the very unglamorous proofreading department, which checks for misspelling, missing characters, errors or inconsistencies in the content of manuscripts before these go to print. Furthermore, Morio Toyoko, her junior from high school days, is a fashion editor. Under the assumption that she had been assigned to the editorial department, Etsuko vehemently protests to Takehara Sho-on, the head of the proofreading department. Takehara tells her that she may be able to transfer to the department of her choice if her work here is recognised. So Etsuko decides to work hard at proofreading with the goal of transferring to the editorial department. Although she starts learning the basics of proofreading, she does not have sufficient knowledge of kanji. Her exasperated seniors find her unsuitable for the job of proofreading and Etsuko pours out her frustrations about her work to Toyoko and company receptionist, Imai Seishiru. Then Etsuko gets assigned to proofread the manuscript of popular leading mystery writer, Hongo Daisaku, because she is the only one in the department who is free. Dressed in flashy clothes, she enthusiastically tackles her first job, going beyond her proofreading work to get into actual locations to verify facts. She tries to do her job to perfection for a transfer to the editorial department, but her unorthodox approach to proofreading infuriates Kaizuka Hachiro, the editor in charge. Then Hongo asks to see the person who proofread his manuscript. Meanwhile, Toyoko is told by her editor, Kamei Sayaka, to look for candidates to be the magazine’s first exclusive male model. She scouts a guy called Orihara Yukito through photographs of handsome men she found on the internet. A fourth-year university student who intends to be a writer, Yukito flatly rejects Tokoyo’s invitation to be a model since he has no interest. “A hole suddenly opened in the darkness. A huge tongue appeared and my face was licked. That was the first memory of my life … …” 19-year-old Fujiwara Rihito (Suda Masaki) works for a restaurant chain, but finds employment with Rescue Dogs Association, a non-profit organisation that he chanced upon after his company goes bankrupt. This non-profit organisation led by Baba Akio (Honda Hirotaro) has been training dogs for disaster relief and working to popularise it. When Rihito inadvertently falls asleep in a park, he is awakened by a big dog that licks his face. This is his fateful encounter with the disaster rescue dog, Kyu, and he somehow sets his sights on being a rescue dog handler. However, the combination of Rihito, who is intending to work temporarily until he finds his next job, and the foolish Kyu just does not turn out well. One day, Rihito is confined in the training yard for rescue dogs and gets out because of Kyu’s frantic barking. He is reassured to have Kyu as his partner following this first-hand experience of the feelings of a person calling for help. Then he learns that his first recollection of life is connected to the earthquake disaster 20 years ago. He lost his parents in the Hanshin Awaji Earthquake when he was a little child and was raised by his grandparents, Hiroshi (Kobayashi Kaoru) and Fumiko (Fubuki Jun) who run a shop for custom-made men’s shoes. Baba himself went through the earthquake as a firefighter and witnessed the loss of many lives. He made the decision to rear disaster rescue dogs whose existence was virtually unknown at that time because he reckons that there is no other way to save lives. This is the story of moving steadily forward toward dreams and hope as well as the people and towns that have recovered from the earthquake.

A 30-year-old single detective (Nagase Tomoya), who is under the illusion that he is popular with females is called 'Unubore' by friends. He is an ultra romantic and susceptible to conceitedness. He has such a strong desire to marry to the extent that he has bought an apartment for his newlywed life. He falls in love with female criminals at first sight each time. While the sheer desire to meet wraps around him, he will get proof that the female is the culprit. And so, he will thrust both the arrest warrant and marriage papers at her, proposing with the words, "If you marry me, I won’t arrest you." If that still does not work, he will hold out an engagement ring and his handcuffs. In the end, the criminal will choose to be arrested and his heart will be broken. He will cry as he puts the handcuffs on her.

Fumi becomes Genzui Kusaka’s wife. During the turbulent times of the closing days for the Tokugawa shogunate, she lives positively and tries to keep up Shoin Yoshida's will. Shoin Yoshida is her older brother and intellectual.

Kaido published "Madonna Verde" in 2008 as a sequel to "Gene Waltz," continuing the story around the controversial issue of surrogate pregnancy in Japan. She decides to ask her own mother Midori (Matsuzaka) to be the surrogate mother, and the three of them proceed with their plan in secret. However, a man named Maruyama (Kyozo Nagatsuka), who is in love with Midori, finds out about their plan. Later, a professor at Rie's university hospital (Hirotaro Honda) receives an accusatory letter, and Midori and Rie are desperately forced to pretend that the child in Midori's womb is her own. --

In 1999, an enormous meteor crashed onto Earth carrying extra-terrestrial creatures. In order to counter this new threat, ZECT was formed. Seven years later, in the year 2006, power struggles in ZECT have caused a new group, known as Neo-ZECT. With three groups in existence (Neo-ZECT, ZECT and the Worms), Tendou has decided to sell his power to either Neo-ZECT or ZECT, but his intentions are unclear. ZECT reveal a plan to save humanity, but unknown to other is a plot to destroy man kind.
