While Nishimura Kanade was a 3rd grade middle school student, her father, who worked as a prosecutor, died in an incident. After her father’s death, she and her mother moved to her moved to her mother’s hometown in Nagano Prefecture. Nishimura Kanade wanted to become a prosecutor like her father, and she entered law school at a national university in Nagano Prefecture. There, she had 4 friends, including Nogi Masaki. They became really close friends and shared memorable experiences together. Due to a case involving a death, their relationship ended.

12 years later, Nishimura Kanade is now 35 years old and works as a prosecutor in the Yokohama District Public Prosecutors’ Office. Her boyfriend is Okuda Takashi, who works as a doctor, and they live together. One day, one of her law school classmates, who disappeared after the death case, appears in front of her. Nishimura Kanade must confront the suspicious death case from her law school days. This leads her to examine the truth behind her father’s death from 20 years ago and also the secret faces of her friends.

A female high school student named Sayaka kills herself, but the reason why she killed herself is unknown. Sayaka appeared to have a normal life with her family, including her mother Rumiko. Rumiko seemed to raise Sayaka with love and care. In reality, Rumiko is a mother who is unable to give love to her daughter and Sayaka is a daughter who wants to receive love from her mother.

When mother Rumiko and daughter Sayaka think of the same incidents that took place in the past, they tell different stories.

As Mai deepens her ties with the people living in her two hometowns of Higashi Osaka and Goto, her dream eventually takes a new form. She gathers enthusiastic friends to build a small electric plane that can fly to and from the islands. Her dream becomes a wing that carries everyone’s dreams and takes off.

Misaki lives in a rural town situated among lush, green mountains beneath a clear blue sky. Despite graduating from a Tokyo university, she was unable to find the job she hoped for due to a lack of opportunities that befell her generation. Everything has gone badly for her and now she is turning 40. However, she has dreams of marrying Naoki, the caregiver of her elderly handicapped mother Mitsuko who pays visits to their home. Her clandestine meetings with Naoki are one of Misaki's oases from her mother's verbal abuse. The other is the bee farm run by her childhood friend Kaori. The honey that Kaori diligently makes is sweet, mild, and soothing. But then, Misaki is betrayed by Naoki. And Kaori abruptly dies. These events drive Misaki's heart to the brink of bursting.

The story is set during the high economic development time of the Showa period. Natsu lost her parents during the war so she moves to the Tokachi region in Hokkaido with her foster father who is a dairy farmer. While growing up, Natsu meets a boy at primary school who draws a very beautiful picture of a horse so she becomes interested in animated movies. Upon graduating from senior high school, Natsu moves to Tokyo and joins the budding animation industry in order to fulfill her dream of becoming an animator.

One day, she receives a notification from the court that she has been selected as an alternate member of the jury for a shocking criminal case. The defendant in the case is Ando Mizuho, a full-time housewife who is the same age as Risako. She is on trial for causing the death of her 8-month-old daughter by dropping her into the bathtub. As a mother herself, Risako feels repulsed that Mizuho killed her own child. However, after the trial opens, Mizuho’s circumstances remind Risako of her own past and she soon becomes confused with the chaotic feelings that have lain dormant in her.

In the feudal Japanese society, men could easily divorce their wives whereas wives had great difficulty to exercise the same act. Many women found solace at a women’s Buddhist temple in Kamakura named Tokei-ji, where, after two years of servitude, their husbands were forced to sign divorce papers. The three inns located in the area beneath the temple functioned as the front offices, with Tokei-ji accepting only women who have been approved by them first.

The year is 1841. Tokugawa Shogunate has issued sumptuary regulations as part of Tempo reforms, making the lives of common people even worse. Nakamura Shinjiro is a literary writer and doctor-in-training, residing in Edo. In light of the recent events, Shinjiro escaped to an inn at Tokei-ji temple which is run by his aunt, Kashiwaya Genbei.

Jogo is aiming for Tokei-ji in search of a divorce from her abusive husband who is exploiting her for the family business. Ogin is a former courtesan who has abandoned the love of her life, a wealthy merchant, for some unknown reasons. The two women come across in their journey to Tokei-ji. There, Jogo and Ogin meet Shinjiro, his aunt and the others who are trying to help the women with various ideas to start a new life.

The police shows up and Rikako needs to cover up the fact that she was having an illicit rendezvous with Tomoya. Spying Sawa leaving the supermarket for home, Rikako quickly pulls Sawa to her side and claims that she was actually at the supermarket with Tomoya to meet up with Sawa, as the three of them had pre-arranged to have coffee together. Sensing Rikako's desperation, Sawa decided to fall in with the act, and backs up Rikako's story. While sorting out the case with the police, Kentaro's form teacher, Kitano Yuichi, shows up to bail his student out. After this chance meeting with Kentaro, Sawa finds herself unable to forget Yuichi, and soon, the two of them become lovers...

Suzuhara Nao, an expert observer of migratory birds, becomes a substitute teacher at an elementary school. She's in charge of of first-year students and doesn't have much passion for her job. One of her young students named Reina becomes attached to her new teacher.

One day, Nao knows about bruises on Reina and realizes that she is the victim of child abuse. At first Nao doesn't say anything, but Nao notices more bruises with each passing day and Reina's absences from school become more frequent. Nao's maternal instincts kicks in and she decides to take care of Reina. Nao & Reina then takes a train from their native Hokkaido to Tokyo ...

Shida Mirai, the young actress of Jyoou no Kyoushitsu fame, plays an average junior high school student who becomes pregnant with her lover's child. The drama will show her gradually maturing as the circumstances around her change.

Yuka Misaki, whose parents run a flower shop, casually begins dating college student Akio Asami, and later falls for him. But due to some type of accident, the two lose contact with one another.

One year after the accident, the two suddenly meet again. Yuka is still working at her father Shigeo's flower shop, and Akio is a teacher at a nearby high school.

It's January 7, just right after the New Year begins. Makeup classes are being held for students that aren't keeping up with their daily studies. Taking the classes are the popular Tadashi Otomo, and the leader of the delinquent students, Sho Takamatsu. And giving the lecturers is Noriko Sekiya, a teacher that has taken out all kinds of loans to pay for the popular brand items that she buys.

Yuka comes to the school to collect money from Noriko. While at the school, with thoughts of the past in the back of her mind, Yuka and Akio meet and get into a fight. Then all of a sudden, there is a small tremor, and after it subsides.
