Tashiro intends to come along for the “Famous Waters Special” trip organised by his colleague, Kizaki Kaori (Okamoto Rei). Their destination is his hometown, Kurumi Village, a mountain village famous for spring water and fireflies. Shukan Maichou’s well-known reporter, Kuno Shoichi (Kamikawa Takaya), is visiting the village with Kawashima Eiko (Aoyama Noriko), his junior during his time with the local news desk, to cover the whereabouts of a missing university professor, Yamakawa (Watanabe Kenkichi). Kuno is a gossip rag who is capable, but will do whatever it takes to achieve his goal. Arriving at the location, Tashiro starts taking photographs by a river in the mountains. Then he senses the presence of a person, but there is no one in the surroundings. While pursuing the unseen presence, he proceeds further along an animal trail and ends up slipping off a cliff. Realising that Tashiro is not with her, Kaori seeks the help of Kuno and Eiko and the three of them search around. They soon find Tashiro lying in the wilderness. Kaori and Eiko are concerned about his welfare, but Kuno picks up Tashiro’s camera and turns it on. The camera was in video mode at the time it was dropped and had captured a small hut in a dense fog. A man in a suit whose head was covered by a bag was being taken to this small hut … … Kuno concludes that the man in the suit is Professor Yamakawa and Tashiro contacts the police. Tashiro visits the police precinct and meets with detective Tsutsui Takanori (Takito Kenichi). He turns on the camera to show the recorded video to Tsutsui. However, the memory card is not inside. It appears to have been taken out by Kuno. Tsutsui refuses to investigate without proof, and delivers a parting shot on the article Tashiro had fabricated about the bribes of the prefectural police. Tashiro is frustrated, but is dragged by an indignant Kaori to start probing into what is happening in this village. ~JDrama Weblog~

Hikari (Kyoko Fukada) has to take care of her sick mother and two younger brothers. They are informed that their missing father has died, and later find out he left them a huge 10 million yen debt. They are a very poor family. They have no money or food. To pay off the debt, Hikari lands a cleaning job at the UBS TV company. On the other side, there's Masako Nagai (Matsushita Yuki), a struggling UBS TV drama producer. The men she works with are somewhat sexist. Through an incident within UBS, Masako discovers Hikari's talents as a creative person with a great imagination for drama writing. With no allies within UBS, she decides to hire Hikari, training her to be an assistant producer. Hikari's happiness is keeping her family fed and paying off her father's debt. Masako's happiness is to gain respect within UBS by excelling as a drama producer.

The story takes place during the reign of the Ryukyu Kingdom (19th Century). Nakama plays Mazuru, a young woman who wants to complete her studies despite her gender restrictions, so she takes advantage of the disappearance of her step brother and disguises herself as an Eunuch named Son Neion, and passes the exam to be a royal govenrment's official. This is her first time having to play both a male and female character. Her supporting cast includes Tanihara Shosuke as her lover and Takaoka Saki as her enemy.

Shintaro is a detective at the Kichijoji police station in Tokyo, Japan. Shintaro works with Yu Nagamine. In his personal life, Shintaro is married to Kaori and has three children. What's more surprising is that Haruka appoints Nozomi Asuka — who was scheduled to deliver weather forecasts — as her assistant. She tells Asuka that it's the assistant's job to work alongside her for 24 hours and wake her up every morning. "Why do I have to spend my private time with her...?" Full of doubts, Nozomi heads to Haruka's apartment with her luggage. What awaits her?

Kitagawa plays the part of the slow but hardworking Momoko, a low-ranking employee at a funeral services company who carries a mop as part of her job.
