Minami Hiromi is an FBI agent visiting Japan from the US for a limited time. Minami lost his sight due to an accident in the past and he is called the "last man" in the FBI, referring him as the last trump card to end a case with his strong sense of analysis, smell, and touch. Godo Shintaro has been assigned to attend to Minami. From a family that has served as the Commissioner of the National Police Agency for generations, Godo has an extraordinary sense of justice and is willing to go any lengths to catch the criminals. Minami, who is always ready to ask for help, and Godo, who has never trusted anyone except himself, become a duo and work together to solve cases.

Physicist Manabu Yukawa returns to Japan from America. Detective Kaoru Utsumi visits him and talks about a case. The case is about a popular girl in a town who disappeared and, several years later, her body was found. A suspect was arrested for her murder. That suspect was previously arrested for another girl's murder, but he was released due to a lack of evidence. Detective Shunpei Kusanagi investigated the prior murder case. The same suspect was then released due to a lack of evidence for the most recent murder case. The released man returned to his town, where everybody hated him. On the day of the autumn festival parade, the man was killed.

Physicist Manabu Yukawa, Detective Kaoru Utsumi and Detective Shunpei Kusanagi work together on his case.

Kishibeno Yuri is a housewife who lives with her husband and their two children. Yuri attends her sister Tono Misaki's funeral where she meets her niece Ayumi for the first time in many years. Ayumi is still unable to accept her mother's death and, because of this, she can't open a letter left behind by her mother. Yuri attends her sister's reunion to inform them about her sister's death. A misunderstanding occurs at the reunion and Yuri is mistaken for her late sister. Yuri meets her first love Otosaka Kyoshiro who mistakenly believes she is Misaki. They exchange contact information. A few days later, Yuri receives a message from Kyoshiro that says "Can you believe that I am still in love with you?"

Makino Satoshi is a genius classical guitarist. One day, he meets journalist Komine Yoko. They become attracted to each other, but Komine Yoko has a fiancé.

Hiroshi Kataoka works at a bank. He receives a promotion to manager of the Kamata branch. He is also informed that the Kamata branch will be shut down and he does not have to work hard. After the branch's shutdown, he will work again at the bank's headquarters. Hiroshi Kataoka is embarrassed by the situation. He sees the branch employees work hard and they do not know the branch will close. Hiroshi Kataoka is conflicted between his job and his employees.

The Kashiwagi family's life story continues. Koume finally gets into an university, while Masaya decides to travel round the world to save as many people as he can with his skills. Fumiya, on the other hand, breaks through his inferior feelings and is dating a blind penpal girlfriend. Meanwhile, Kazuya builds a strong relationship with his colleague, Miki, who then moves in with the Kashiwagi family after her mother's death, adding to the strength of the family together with the other new tenant, Shinjou. However, the love triangle between Tatsuya, Masaya and Koyuki is put to the test when one of them must battle a terminal illness.

A car accident killed a couple, orphaning their six children. At that time, the eldest child, Tatsuya, was only 18 and had to attend marathon training. Lacking the confidence to take good care of his siblings, he separately relocated them to the homes of their relatives and adopters. However, after seven years and a career-ending injury, Tatsuya decides to reunite his brothers and sisters to live together under one roof. To his disappointment, he is met with resentment and discord.

After graduating from the Tokyo University School of Law, Takamiya Makoto (Matsushima Nanako) goes on to Harvard University where she earns an MBA. She later works at one of the "big three" networks in the United States as a news reporter. While covering a story on an international symposium in Paris, Makoto is scouted to work for JBC Television in Japan. The news producer at JBC wants to use Makoto to help raise low viewer ratings. He persuades her to work for him for an absurdly high salary, and also gives her the right to hire who she needs. While Makoto is being brought in to be the savior of the News Department, one man gets transferred from the Variety Department. His name is Nagase Hiromi (Fukuyama Masaharu). Since joining JBC Television, all he has done is variety programs. Although Hiromi has done everything he possibly could to ensure his programs are a success, his boss just could not take anymore of Hiromi's behavior which ranged from getting caught up in scandals with female television personalities, punching-out assistant directors, to taking kickbacks from production companies. His boss finally tells Hiromi to make a fresh start in the "hard nosed" News Department. So now the News Department has Makoto who thinks high ratings are the meaning of life, and Hiromi who values the success of a program as just a tool for the full enjoyment of life. These two totally different personalities mix it up and somehow reach a mutual understanding, creating a delightful "light comedy" for adults.

The 49th NHK Taiga drama is Ryoma den, set back in the Bakumatsu period. The story focuses on the life of Sakamoto Ryoma, who lived from 1835 to 1867. He was an important leader in the movement to overthrow the Tokugawa Bakufu, eventually bringing about the Meiji Restoration. He was also one of the founders of modern day Japanese navy through incorporation of western technology, which proved to be a force to be reckoned with during the revolution.

One day, Ryota receives a phone call from the hospital. The hospital informs Ryota that his 6-year-old son is not his biological son. After his birth, two babies were switched. Ryota and his wife become torn by the news.The couple must decide whether to take back their biological son or keep the son they have raised for the last 6 years.

Manabu Yukawa is invited for a presentation on Submarine Mineral Resources Development in Harigaura. He stays at an inn. Manabu meets Kyohei who came to the inn, which is run by his aunt's family, for summer vacation. The next morning, Tsukahara, who is another guest at the inn, is found dead on the bank of a port. Manabu becomes involved in the case.

Detective Kaoru Utsumi (Kou Shibasaki) visits professor of physics Manabu Yukawa (Masaharu Fukuyama) and introduces new detective Misa Kishitani (Yuriko Yoshitaka) to him. This is done on orders from Detective Shunpei Kusanagi (Kazuki Kitamura) of The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department who graduated from same university as Manabu Yukawa. Detective Kaoru keeps talking about a case in which a person fell to their death at the building of a religious group in Kamata. The victim fell from the the 5th floor of a building where the religious group "Kuai" resides. Apparently, the leader of the religious group (Takao Osawa) sent energy to the victim and he fell. Detective Kaoru shows pictures taken by magazine photographer of the incident. The pictures show that the group's leader did not touch the victim, but the victim's eyes became hazy. Manabu Yukawa becomes interested in the case and believes the incident can be proven scientifically.

This drama pits two protagonists against each other. On the one hand there's Makoto, a woman who believes that the TV program is a product and that viewer ratings are the proceeds, and who believes any method is fair in getting those ratings. On the other hand there's Hiromi, a flashy sort of guy who claims that life is to enjoy and boasts that the program is simply a tool in that process. He loves wine, women and gambling. Such a pair is bound to mix like oil and water, but following a fateful reunion, they come to understand each other in the midst of confrontation.

Kusunoki Taketo is a single 30-year old dentist. A playboy, he will hit on all his female patients. Chigusa is a 24-year old typical OL, her only objective in life is to snare a wealthy and good-looking man for a husband. However, Chigusa's reputation precedes her, and is looked down upon by other OL, for being so obvious and tenacious in her search for a man. On one of her date with a eligible man from the company next door, she wins a holiday for two to Bali. It is here in Bali that she has a one night stand with Taketo.

After their one night together, while sightseeing in Bali, Taketo is reunited with his first love, Aya. She is a famous model, and is in Bali, holidaying with her latest boyfriend. Taketo had loved Aya deeply, but she was more interested in pursuing her dream of becoming a model. She had left him for another man, who had promised to launch her modelling career.

Upon their return to Tokyo, everyone goes their separate way. However, Chigusa is one day reunited with Taketo, when she goes to his clinic to fix her terrible toothache.

Five young people together attended the same high school. Later, they realize that some things are still the same and some things have changed a lot (loves, betrayal, friends, etc.) You will wonder who Shinichi will end up with at the end, Tsuyumi or Junko?

Reiko, a 28 year-old office girl, wants to marry her boyfriend, 35 year-old Kenta who works in the same office. However, the situation becomes quite complicated when the young woman is promoted to manage a major project. Reiko is left feeling lost and helpless before this unexpected move by the company president. Did her father have a secret agreement with the president? Will the future hold any happiness for her?
