While standing on the ledge of a rooftop building, he sees a woman running toward him and screaming. She is attacked by a man with a knife. Tomoki becomes involved and gets stabbed by the man, but it turns out the attack was a staged event and Tomoki was not really stabbed. Tomoki learns that the staged event is called "enjiya," which takes place upon a client's request. This is the first time he hears of enjiya. Tomoki decides to hire Aika to take revenge on people who falsely accused him of sexual harassment.

In the southernmost part of Japan, 20 fishing boats of an unknown nationality suddenly fire upon and occupy parts of the Hateruma archipelago. Members of the Japan Coast Guard are detained. Ryota Akitsu (Hidetoshi Nishijima) is the captain of the Aircraft Carrier Ibuki and Toshiya Niinami (Kuranosuke Sasaki) is second-in-command. It is now 6:23 am. and Japan faces one day which they never have before.

The original material for this drama comes from a blog titled "Gekikakusatsu SS Nikki" by a person named Mighty. The murderer’s personal effects are discovered in the direction of the woods and Yabe gives chase with Akiba. Meanwhile, Deep Manabu has been at work on analyzing the case. A fierce battle of wits is about to unfold between the man with the wig and the man who uses artificial intelligence, in the investigation of this bloodthirsty killer.

Toyama Kinshiro is a 30-year-old newly-appointed police chief at Kitamachi Police Station who firmly believes his mission as a policeman is to listen to every voice of innocent citizens and protect the peace in the community. He comes off as aloof and a bit quirky at first, but in fact he has brilliant investigative instincts and spots clues that no one else can detect. Unlike his elite career bureaucrat colleagues, Kinshiro doesn't dress or act like a stereotypical Chief Police. Rather than sitting behind a desk, Kinshiro leaves the office and literally goes around town to do the investigation work, and go the extra mile to solve any crime regardless how small or trivial. However, his unorthodox approach generates a lot of antagonism from his subordinates at Kitamachi Police Station.

NAOTO has been part of EXILE and Sandaime J Soul Brothers for years, but his job in these groups is a cover for his true job. He is actually a hero that protects society from bad people. He doesn't want to be discovered by the other members, though, because he doesn't want to cause them trouble.

Several days later, Prosecutor Ryoji meets Attorney Kuromiya (Jiro Sato). The attorney defended Kentaro in the murder case. Attorney Kuromiya tells Prosecutor Ryoji about the real killer in the murder case. Soon, Attorney Kuromiya is found dead. Doubts about the death of Serina's father is aroused. Prosecutor Ryoji is suspected in the murder of Attorney Kuromiya. Serina is dumbfounded by the recent chain of events. He finds the pretty girl, Mei Misaki (Ai Hashimoto) is also in his class. Koichi doesn't feel comfortable, because all of his classmates and even his teacher act like the girl doesn't exist.

Detectives Sakurai Shintarou and Hikage Koichi are partners. They are also corrupt and often blackmail criminal groups and seize their money. One day, the Chief of Police becomes aware that 2.5 million yen in seized money is missing. He orders Shintarou and Koichi to bring the money in by tomorrow morning. Shintarou and Koichi are in big trouble. They then read an article about a pension fund embezzlement case involving 6 billion yen. The prime suspect of the pension fund embezzlement case spent most of that money, but he has 2.5 billion yen left.

In the late 1930's (Show Period 14), two sides in Japan are conflicted between joining Germany and Italy in a military alliance. At this time, Isoroku Yamamoto, who strongly opposed the alliance, is appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Combined Fleet. The following year, on September 27, Japan, Germany and Italy form the Axis alliance.

Isoroku Yamamoto leads the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The attack's main purpose is to gain an early peace settlement. The surprise military strike appeared successful and caused massive damage, but US aircraft carriers were not damaged in the assault. After the attack, the Axis alliance initially saw advances without any defeats.

By April 18, 1942 (Show Period 17), formations of U.S. B-25B bombers, flown from an U.S. aircraft carrier, attacked the Japanese mainland for the first time. The Japanese military responded by carrying out their Midway operation, but the mission failed, and the Japanese military lost 4 aircraft carriers.

The U.S. army were encouraged by their victory at Midway and proceeded to carry out a landing operation on Guadalcanal. The Japanese and U.S. military fought fiercely. Besides the toll from fighting the U.S. military, the Japanese military suffered from starvation, dehydration and diseases while on Guadalcanal. The Japanese military were nearing collapse on Guadalcanal before Isoroku Yamamoto gave the order to withdraw to save more lives.

After the completion of the withdrawal from Guadalcanal, Isoroku Yamamoto flew on an airplane to make moral boosting visits to soldiers on the front line. His plane would be intercepted by the U.S. military.

News comes out that several people found 1 kg of solid gold in their mail boxes. Yamabuki Maya moves back to her hometown and surprises the movers by the amount of money she gives them.

After settling in her hometown, Maya one day takes the city train and sees former high school classmate Michigawa Tamotsu driving the city train. He tells her wistfully that he initially hoped to drive trains all around the world, but is now resigned to driving the city train. Several days later, Tamotsu receives a package from Maya with money and a map of the world railway system.

Uozumi Saki's husband dies suddenly. For her husband's funeral, her old high school classmates arrive. It seems May made an exorbitant amount of money while living in Tokyo. Maya then tells her old high school friends I will make your dreams & hopes come to fruition.

He soon becomes a detective at the Wangan Police Station where he encounters various cases and deals with the police bureaucracy.
