It follows secretary Amelia Wong (Ali), who restarts her life after ending a long relationship. She returns to work, meets new people, and develops a relationship with her boss Matt (Moses). Much like many of the people in her life, Amelia takes initiative to search for a journey—a journey of love, of finding oneself, and of finding one’s dreams.

During the reign of Emperor Renzong of Song, Shaun Tam takes office as the magistrate of Kaifeng. Shaun, his adviser Raymond Cho, bodyguard Owen Cheung, and four bailiffs work together to combat crooked trends. Nancy Wu, the daughter of a merchant, is an eloquent speaker and receives guidance from Raymond as she becomes a lawyer. Elaine Yiu, a maid from Gaochang, is skilled in autopsies. Living on the streets of Hong Kong, Chu Gam Chun claims that he is the Last Emperor of China. As social worker Fung Siu Yung follows his case, she gradually reveals his adventurous, absurd, legendary life devoted to pursing his love Yi Yung Yung. With the help of triad leader Nau Lik, Chu Gam Chun transforms into a powerful Shanghai tycoon. Although his heart still thinks about Yi Yung Yung, a missed opportunity causes the two of them to be separated again for forty years.

The intricate story begins when a young man partners with his friend to murder and dismember his parents. Pleading not guilty, the defense attorneys soon turn on each other, as the defendants play the devil and idiot game. Meanwhile, heated debates emerge inside the jury room, where nine jurors grapple with the truth. Crafting a complex, multi-layered narrative with surprising twists and turns, Ho Cheuk Tin sets himself a formidable challenge in this directorial debut.
