Twenty years ago, two pediatric interns had a falling out due to a surgical operation. Cheung Yat Kin (Kenneth Ma) recently graduated and started his practice in neurosurgery at Yan Oi Hospital. Although his medical interns were afraid of his strict rules and high expectations, they respected his exceptional skills and experiences. Kin initially studied medicine because he was grateful to the doctor (Yu's father) who saved his younger brother Cheung Yat Hong’s (Nathan Ngai) life after a bad traffic accident. Kin took great care of his brother and worked hard to earn enough money to send his brother for an overseas's education. Because he was worried that his brother will be unable to take care of himself as his legs are paralyzed, Kin decided that his mother shall accompany his brother overseas. Thus Kin had to work doubly hard to enough money to support both of them. Kin’s incredible work ethic enabled him to work hard and save enough money to support his brother financially. For that reason, Kin did not consider being committed into a relationship until he met Fan Chi Yu (Tavia Yeung). Yu, a reputable doctor, worked on several projects with Kin and found herself falling in love with him. However, when she found out that her long lost sister, Fan Mei Suet (Mandy Wong), also liked Kin, she decided to give up on pursuing him. Subsequently, Kin realized that he also had feelings for Yu when she stopped talking to him and confessed his love to her. Shortly after Kin and Yu started their relationship, Hong got into accident and tragically died. Kin’s grief over his younger brother’s tragic death greatly influenced his attitude towards his interns, especially Yeung Pui Chung (Him Law), who Kin had always considered him as a younger brother. To make matters worse, Kin suddenly finds out that Yu suffers from tumor in her spine and that it may become life-threatening. Yu actively searched for treatment and her persistent spirit motivated Kin to get back on his feet to support her. Unfortunately, Yu’s condition worsened, and she took the risk of undergoing a dangerous surgery. As a doctor and Yu’s boyfriend, Kin and Yu's father took on the challenge to do the surgery on her. After enduring the hardships together, Kin and Yu’s feelings grew deeper and got happily married.

The Special Duties Unit (SDU), led by Joe Ma and consisting of team members Him Law, Oscar Leung and Mandy Wong, continue to work coherently together. Still, new challenges constantly come up, including having to adjust to the different working style of the new Chief Inspector (Timmy Hung). During one particular hostage rescue mission, Joe encounters Linda Chung, an undercover agent who is being chased by the triads. Her resourcefulness and bravery leaves a deep impression on Joe. He helps her return to the Criminal Intelligence Bureau (CIB) and they gradually develop romantic feelings. But Joe is uneasy about Linda's deceptive behaviour, as if she is hiding a secret. In addition, his leadership of the SDU is questioned when a team member is reprimanded after a failed mission. Seeing the growing internal strife, Joe decides to resign. Meanwhile, Linda resorts to any tactic to find the person who betrayed her as an undercover, including using intelligence reports which put the SDU team at risk. Faced with so many imminent threats, how will Joe and the SDU team work together to solve these problems?

Tiger Cubs (Chinese: ??; literally "flying tigers", alternatively titled Special Duties Unit, is a Hong Kong police procedural television series produced by Lam Chi-wah and TVB. It premiered on Sunday, 24 June 2012 on Jade and HD Jade, and was the first TVB drama to broadcast in the Sunday night time slot since 1995's File of Justice. Tiger Cubs was one of six TVB dramas that were promoted at the 2011 Hong Kong Internal Film and TV Market. Tiger Cubs debuted its trailer at TVB's Programme Presentation 2012 event on 1 November 2011.The drama is renewed for a sequel in early 2013, with a production of 20 regular episodes. Filming for the second series began in June 2013.The drama follows a fictional team of elite paramilitary officers from the Special Duties Unit of the Hong Kong police force. They specialise in counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, and crimes that are deemed too dangerous for regular police to handle. The unit works closely with the Organised Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) to crack down on terrorist groups.The highly trained Special Duties Unit (SDU), commanded by Joe Ma, faces a slew of criminals, masterminds and kingpins. Out come the weapons and armour and off they go, always returning with the mission completed. They take down everyone from drug dealers, bombers and kidnappers, a crazy psychiatrist, and the “King of Thieves” Kenneth Ma.This is a masterful creation by TVB; a model for police dramas. This is what TVB is capable of when they put effort and resources into a production. This series features action, action and more action. There’s a lot of explosive scenes, shooting, fighting, the like… When the SDU is not on a mission, they’re doing training exercises. They’re running, climbing and jumping around. You can still admire their physical prowess. There’s always movement on the screen, always excitement in the air that will keep you at the edge of your seat.I really like the format of this series. No plot, just case after case. Each case takes the span of about one episode. It is different from other police shows in that this is not an “investigation” series (i.e. collect clues, put two and two together, etc). You will likely recognize the bad guy right away since it’s a well-known guest star. This series focuses on the action. Out of nowhere, the SDU will be notified of the suspect and location. They will come in, break down doors, scour the place and subdue the bad guys. You won’t even see much planning or tactical strategy from the SDU.Outside of the action, there’s the love side. Luckily, TVB does not ruin this show by allocating too much screen time for the relationships. First, there’s the love triangle between Joe, Oscar and Christine. But it isn’t much of a triangle because neither of them really loves her. They choose their friendship over fighting for a girl. After that, Christine sort of just continues hanging around the group.Then there’s the budding relationship between Joe and Jessica. At first Jessica is suicidal over her fiancé’s death, which makes you wonder how she can continue being a cop. But eventually she’s able to let go with Joe’s encouragement. Their relationship is quite subtle and bearable even for people who hate watching romantic scenes (like me).Acting-wise, there’s honestly very little acting required to run around with guns and armor. There were complaints about Christine Kuo, but she has little importance to the story anyways. I liked Oscar Leung the most. He’s very charming with his winks and he’s actually quite built-up.The ending… someone dies, but it is not illogical and unnecessary, unlike previous dramas (*coughcough*Lau Ka Ho Dramas*). The death was necessary to set up the final epic showdown between the SDU and Kenneth.One thing I think was missing: I hoped to actually see how Mandy Wong passes through the selection process and becomes a front-line SDU member. This is not shown; you only know because she’s sitting beside Him Law in full armor in the last shot.You can either enjoy this series for the action or for the masculinity. I enjoyed both aspects.

Promoted as this year’s TVB anniversary series, The Hippocratic Crush 2 sees the return of regular cast members Kenneth Ma (???), Tavia Yeung (??), Him Law (???), and Mandy Wong (???), while also introducing new stars Eliza Sam (???) and Tracy Chu (???). The medical drama will also star Lawrence Ng (???), who had left TVB after filming 2006’s At Home With Love <?????>, and Louisa So (???), whose last TVB was 2009’s A Bride for a Ride <?????>.The Hippocratic Crush 2 will pick up where the first installment left off – Dr. Cheung Yat Kin (Kenneth Ma), now married to Fan Tsz Yu (Tavia Yeung), is faced with new challenges. Yu is pregnant, but being diagnosed with intramedullary spinal cord tumor makes her unfit to bear children. The stubborn Yat Kin insists on carrying the burden for her, and his bullheadedness takes a toll on his relationship with pathology specialist, Lokman (Lawrence Ng ).Yu eventually suffers a miscarriage and also gives up her studies on cardiothoracic surgery. Yat Kin finds it difficult to accept the new changes in his life, but seeing the growth of good friends Yeung Pui Chung (Him Law) and Hung Mei Suet (Mandy Wong) from being inexperienced housemen to becoming trained medical professionals, Yat Kin learns that he must protect himself in order to protect others.

The fashion magazine under the leadership of fashion icon Yip Long is like the imperial palace with its constant infighting. Publisher Ci Wai Man appears to be fawning over editor-in-chief but is actually hiding a dagger beneath his smile. Ci Wai Man purposely appoints Gei Wan Wan to be the Marketing Director to balance against Yip Long' power at the magazine. Yip Long can handle the infighting with ease, but one time, he falters and is caught up in a lawsuit. The incident involves a rejected job applicant Cheung Yat Ning. Yip Long uses this opportunity to stir up the news story by hiring Cheung Yat Ning, a tailor from Sham Shui Po, as his assistant. It sets off upheaval at the magazine and causes the lazy fashion editor Fan Gwok Bong to change his attitude completely. Meanwhile, with her hard-working and sunny attitude, Cheung Yat Ning is able to break through many barriers and whole-heartedly works for her idol Yip Long. When the magazine falls dangerously close to shutting down, Cheung Yat Ning and Fan Gwok Nong join forces to create a miracle and help Yip Long win back all the applause. At this time, Yip Long decides to announce his successor and retire from the fashion industry.
