13-year-old Tae Ok felt strong feelings of love when he first met his cousin at the family gathering. "12 years later, my heart started beating again." A letter arrives from Ah Ri while he is on military duty.

Jae Hoon works as a branch manager for a financial company. The company collapses, ruining the lives of its clients and employees. Jae Hoon has lost everything in the collapse. He buys a plane ticket for Australia where his wife Soo Jin and son live.

There, Jae Hoon meets Ji Na. She has worked in Australia for 2 years while on a holiday visa. She turns to Jae Hoon for help. Meanwhile, Jae Hoon watches his wife and son from a distance.

A North Korean fisherman breaks his boat engine by accident and drifts across into South Korean territory, being picked up by border guards as a spy. After enduring brutal investigations in the South, he eventually gets sent back to North Korea. Before leaving South Korea, he notices the dark side of its society contrasting with its “developed“ image. There, he realizes that economic development does not spell happiness for the people. Although he makes it back home, he receives the same investigations as he did in the south. Then a grave sorrow hits him, trapped in the ideology between the two divided countries against his will.
