It all begins when Ka-hee (Hwang Ji-hyeon), an emotionally and psychologically damaged woman, finds a spirit medium to help her address her troubles. Her inability to give birth to a child had long tortured her, and now she will do anything to cheat that fate.She ends up burying an orphan in a large traditional pot used to burry kimchi underground during the winter and killing him. What she gains for this merciless act is a child of her own. Ka-hee eventually gives birth to a son she names Bin, but Ka-hee soon meets a brutal death. The film continues as Bin’s aunt Sunny (Han Eun-jeong) and her husband Jang-hwan (Park Seong-min) come to live with the now orphaned Bin in his home, which is haunted and where the pot still is. Bin also starts to reveal his violent side.

This drama focuses on the life of Jung Yak Yong, a gifted scholar from Joseon who also had a keen eye for investigation. Jung Yak-Yong (Park Jae-Jeong) is a secret royal inspector. He carries out his job righteously, so King Jung-Jo trusts Jung Yak-Yong. But Jung Yak-Yong is involved in the case of Priest Joo Moon-Mo who spreads western learning thought. Jung Yak-Yong is blamed by people who are jealous of him and finally Jung Yak-Yong is demoted to the low-ranking government position of the Chalbang official of the Geumjeong area. Jung Yak-Yong doesn't expect a lot of work in his new position, but cases occur everywhere.

This drama follows the relationships between four different couples, whose stories are centered around a news anchor, Cha Ki Young, who voluntarily becomes a single mother.

They called him ?Mireuk,? Korean for Maitreya, the future incarnation of Buddha, born to save us all from oblivion. In the Later Three Kingdoms period, that was the moniker attached to Gung Ye, one of the biggest names to eventually pave the way (at his expenses) for the birth of Goryeo. But I guess Lee Mi-Reuk?s (or, if you prefer the slightly sinicized version of his name, Li Mirok) parents didn?t have such grandiose plans when they gave him that name. Born into a family of noble literati, Lee witnessed the disintegration of that Joseon (and the following Korean Empire) which had held strong for five centuries, finally collapsing in the name of Japanese imperialism. Unable to find his voice in the increasingly changing colonial Korea of the 1920s, young Li crossed the famous river dividing the Korean peninsula from Manchuria, the Amnok (Yalu, as they spell it on the other side), and set sail for what he considered the promised land, Europe. What he found wasn?t exactly a paradise, considering his new home away from home was the same Germany which would soon begin the path to the Gro?deutsches Reich, better known as the Third Reich, with the infamous Fuhrer Adolf Hitler on top. But what Li Mirok managed to do was impressive: his memoirs Der Yalu Flie?t, where he narrated stories of his childhood and all the peaceful atmosphere which painted his early days, was one the biggest literary shock in Germany at the time, enough that parts of the novel were added to German textbooks, giving him a place in the pages of history. The first co-production between Korea and Germany, made to celebrate the 125th year of diplomatic relations between the two countries, ???? ??? (Der Yalu Flie?t) is not only a very faithful adaptation of the original (the first episode is more or less the novel?s content, while the remaining two talk about the rest of Li?s life in Germany), but also a throwback to the great period dramas of the early to mid 90s, like ????? (Kareisky) and ??? ??? (Eyes of Dawn). Its slow paced and poetic prose might feel out of place in today?s K-drama industry, so preoccupied with shallow glitz and glamour, but it?s with substance and narrative fundamentals that this drama succeed on almost all accounts, as one of the best overlooked gems of the year.

Knife and Flower, an action/spy/romance drama, is set in the Koguryo period. By the 1970's he became the most powerful man in the underground economy. Yoo In-Hye's family is now one of the richest families.

Lee Jung-Yeon (Lee Min-Jung) dated Do-Hyun for 6 years and they will get married soon. Whenever she thinks about Do-Hyun, she can't stop smiling. During her middle and high school years Jung-Yeon was a quiet student with ordinary scores, but Do-Hyun appeared in front of her and they began a relationship. She is certain that Do-Hyun loves her. Director Yoo Ha helms the period saga A Frozen Flower as a plunge into the intrigues and machinations of the Korean dynastic era. The period is the late 14th century, and the last waning gasp of the centuries-old Goryeo Dynasty. As that regime comes to a bitter end thanks to the machinations of the Yuan Dynasty, The Goryeo king responds by organizing a military force known as Kunryongwe, led by the daunting commander Hong Lim. The leader captivates the king to an alarming degree - to such an extent, in fact, that he almost completely diverts the regent's attention away from his queen, leaving her with tremendous feelings of reluctance and hesitancy about this relationship. Meanwhile, the manipulativeness of the Yuan doubles: they unsuccessfully attempt to subvert the king by placing a threatening ruler in a high position, but the king - sensing this Machiavellian scheme - adamantly refuses, much to the consternation of the top-tiered Goryeo officials. The ruler also devises a complex and wickedly clever scheme to protect the Goryeo line for future generations by appointing Hong Lim to impregnate the queen and father a new ruler with her.
