In 2035, alien dark forces raided the earth in an attempt to capture the survival of mankind. Energy treasures, the earth where the energy is located, have been hit hard in turn. The borders of the country were broken, and the elites of various countries formed a joint army. Humanity united against alien invaders and established an energy bastion called "bubble defense" in the few remaining energy cities to defend against alien attacks. With the fall of the fortress cities of New York, Tokyo, New Delhi and so on, Shanghai has become the last hope of mankind. College student Jiang Yang (Lu han) followed the female commander Lin (Shu Qi ) into the Shanghai Fortress to become a commander. Alien forces continue to launch a violent attack, Lin was ordered to protect the secret weapon of repelling aliens. Jiang Yang and several friends’ "Grey Eagle Squad" will face the alien invaders and defend the human race in Shanghai.

A spirited comedy that pokes fun at old-style Cantonese filmmaking and Wong Kar-Wai's 1990s art-house hits, but ever so gently. Dayo Wong plays a WK-W like director who is sent back 30 years and forced to make a movie under the conditions of the time. The film contains many refernces for film buffs, from Kwan Tak-Hing's cheesy "Wong Fei-Hung" series to the hilarious antics of "La Rose Noire". Review by Paul Thompson: You'll probably laugh, but you might not have gotten the object of satire by reading the subtitles, which is why I have provided this summary. I'm pretty sure Wong Jing was involved in this -- in fact one of the characters is Wong Jing as a young man. If you are a die hard Wong Kar Wai fan, you will laugh when you watch this film. "Those Were the days" speculates on what would happen if a hot international art house director (a.k.a. WKW) were transported back in time to the 1960s Hong Kong film industry. Highlights include: WKW meets Wong Jing as a child and profoundly influences career; WKW attempts to make his kind of films with the resources, talent, and expectations of 1960s HK filmmakers, and a lot of other Hong Kong /Wong Jing style zaniness.

Three friends arrive to Shanghai hoping to find a better life. They soon find themselves caught in the web of dangerous and violent criminal world.

Among the steady stream of new Chinese movies opening in America, “A Beautiful Life” stands out — rather than an overstuffed, jingoistic historical tale or martial-arts blowout, it’s a contemporary romantic melodrama with a plaintive pop soundtrack that might call to mind “Terms of Endearment,” “The Other Sister” or, most strongly, a Nora Ephron comedy minus most of the laughs. (There’s also a bit of “Memento” thrown in.) It’s no great shakes, but a substantial number of American moviegoers — soft-hearted, slightly masochistic and largely abandoned by Hollywood — would like it if they found their way to it. The first hour, especially, is charming, before the balance shifts from romance to melodrama to, in the final minutes, the kind of maudlin crescendo that Asian audiences are accustomed to. The director, Andrew Lau, gives further proof of his versatility, having already shown that he can make very good gangster movies (“Infernal Affairs”) and so-so kung-fu epics (“Legend of the Fist,” which opened in the United States last month). He practices heroic restraint and delicacy, given the five main characters he’s been handed: one’s blind, one’s autistic, one’s mute, one has early-onset dementia and one’s a healthy, bitter drunk. Mr. Lau is helped by his charismatic stars, Shu Qi and Liu Ye, both of whom are very appealing within the narrow range set for them. Mr. Liu plays an upright cop who’s slowly losing his memory and leaves himself notes to remind him of his daily tasks; Ms. Shu has the Holly Golightly role as a real estate agent trying to strike it rich in Beijing so that she can support her parasitic Hong Kong family. (One not very convincing theme of the film is Beijing incorruptibility versus Hong Kong decadence.) She’s a bit forced and shrill in her drunk scenes, but otherwise she underplays adroitly and flashes some sly humor.

Roy comes back to Hong Kong after spending 30 years in Brazil. Despite having Alzheimer's, he holds a half smoked cigarette in his pack because it was a memento from the girl he loved. Upon arrival, he meets a rascal named Smokey, who is trying to find out who his father is and is always videotaping a policewoman, with who he has an infatuation for. The two form a lasting friendship as they try to help each other out in their quests.

Police detective Ha Chun-Chi (Shu Qi) is investigating a rape and murder that took place in a mysterious forest that has also been the scene of many suicides. The main suspect in the murder case is Patrick Wong (Lawrence Chou), but he denies committing the crime. Ha's investigation leads her to botanist Shum Shu-Hoi (Ekin Cheng), who has been experimenting with plants from the forest. Shum's girlfriend, May (Rain Li), feigns interest in the forest to gain information for a tabloid television show she works for. Shum's experiments reveal that the plants can act as witnesses in the murder case, and sets up a re-enactment of the crime in the forest, where the plants will act as lie detectors.

Three years on and Cat's heart still yearns for Ziyang, the fellow thief she met during a heist at a private party which ended with them both in the swimming pool a little richer. Three years later and Cat has a 9-to-5 life in a high technology company when she gets an SOS message from Ziyang: the Russian mafia are holding him hostage after he failed to steal anti-virus software under contract. Cat contacts her fellow light-fingered sisters from the orphanage of their youth and draws up a plan to steal the virus software herself and get her man back ... with just seven days to complete the mission.

After the soul-searching trip to Hokkaido, Xiaoxiao (Shu Qi) has gotten over her bitter affair with Mr. Fang, somewhat disillusioned with romantic relationships. But one man still gives her mixed feelings: Qin Fen (Ge You) is a considerate and funny guy for sure, yet he's too moody and childish to be the man she wants to walk down the aisle with. Although Xiaoxiao has tried to convince herself that Qin is her Mr. Right, she's too conscious of the difference between liking and loving. On the other hand, Qin is pretty sure he wants to end his bachelorhood with Xiaoxiao. In a bid to find out whether they really suit each other, the two rent a villa in the scenic Sanya to begin their "trial marriage"...

Chin is a mediocre looking middle-aged bachelor. A self-made entrepreneur, he has never had much luck in the love department. He puts out a personal ad hoping to find a relationship, and after a string of bizarre encounters and bad dates, he finally strikes a chord with the beautiful Xiaoxiao. Feeling she's out of his league, Chin hesitates to further approach her and instead, develops an accidental friendship with her. As they spend more time together, they find companionship in each other, with Xiaoxiao lighting up Chin's once dull and repetitive life, and Chin providing a shoulder for Xiaoxiao to cry on as she suffers through her heartbreak over a recent break-up.

Jet (Stephen Fung) is a handsome gay hustler whose sex appeal seems to know no bounds. Everyone wants to make love to him, but he is in love with no one but himself. Things change drastically when he notices what seems like a young couple in a shop, Sam (Daniel Wu) and Kana (Shu Qi). At first sight, he falls in love with Sam and begins following the two around. Jet's friend Ching, who is also a hustler, runs a personal ad in a gay magazine for Jet, imploring Sam to contact Jet. At first, Jet is angry with Ching for not asking him, but his wrath subsides quickly when indeed he meets Sam again in what seems like a chance encounter but actually is an outcome of the personal ad. Sam turns out to be a police officer and Jet starts to befriend him, hoping this will turn into a relationship. But Sam does not seem to notice Jet's intentions. Unbeknownst to Jet, Sam had an affair with pop star K.S. (Terence Yin) five years earlier. At the same time, Ching had been in unrequited love with Sam (then calling himself Fai) when the two were office workers. Ching comes to his apartment shared with Jet when Jet and Sam are there, instantly recognizes Sam as Fai and is furious with Jet for stealing his beloved. Sam runs back to his apartment, but Jet pursues him. The two kiss, but they are interrupted by an unknown person at the door. Later, Sam believes the person to be his father. Unwilling to face his father's disappointment, he kills himself. Jet lives on as a hustler and receives a letter knowing that Sam loved him.

The film follows a group of circus performers who goes on a rampage after an accidental exposure to chemical gas left by the Japanese army in World War II, granting them superhuman abilities.

Ambitious female thief JJ (Shu Qi) stalks the corridors of the high-tech headquarters of a powerful criminal gang, past the bodies of unconscious security guards, only to discover that well-dressed, freelancing secret agent Lam (Tony Leung) has got there ahead of her. They've both come for the same thing, a set of plates for forging US currency, destined to be sold on to a powerful gangster known as Polar Bear. A battle with a hoard of security guards follows, in which the case containing the plates repeatedly changes hands, but although JJ finally escapes with it, Lam has pocketed the plates. Hoping to collect a sizeable reward, he arranges an exchange with US agent Owen Lee (Richie Ren), but Lee is not what he seems and drugs Lam, grabs the plates and heads off to Korea to sell them to Polar Bear. Lam, with his three devoted fighting female assistants, gives chase.
