    Kozo Nakase attends meetings for single widowers looking to remarry. He meets Sayoko Takeuchi and eventually marries her. Not longer after their marriage, he suddenly collapses and dies, leaving everything to Sayako. The rest of his family, including his daughter Tomomi, are left out of his will. Tomomi hires Honda, a private investigator, to find out more about Sayoko.

    Meanwhile, Sayoko works with Toru Kashiwagi, the director of the matchingmaking service. When older wealthy men register for the service, she charms them until they eventually leave everything to her. Sayoko and Toru always split the spoils 50/50. After Kozo Nakase's death, Sayoko begins attending the matchmaking meetings again. Kiharu Funayama becomes her next target, but Sayoko sincerely falls for Kiharu.

    When can tax inspectors make you laugh? In "A Taxing Woman," it is possible. Ryoko is a divorced mother who also works for the Japanese Revenue Service. She, with the freckles and page-boy hair cut, is a workaholic, steadfast and incorruptible in her duties (You can sort of understand why many people evade their taxes while watching this film.). Her one stumbling block is Hideki Gondo, an expert on tax evading. A business man that runs hotels, he uses scams and works with underworld figures, bankers and political figures to keep his money. He's also a fool for love (he has 2 mistresses and a common law wife), and a devoted father. When the 2 meet, it becomes a comedic battle. There's sexual tension between them but the question is: will he be able to keep his money hidden from her? Will she be able to get his money from him?

    The 45th NHK Taiga Drama is Komyo ga Tsuji.

    Kazutoyo lived during the end of the Sengoku period (1546-1605). He was the first feudal lord of the fief of Tosa on the island of Shikoku. He served Nobunaga Oda, Hideyoshi Toyotomi and Tokugawa Ieyasu.

    Chiyo (1557-1617) was his wife, and was known in history for her dedication and devotion to her husband (like Matsu was to Toshiie in Toshiie to Matsu). She is the daughter of a samurai who served the feudal lord Asai.

After 9pm, Jiro Toda, a childhood friend of Nobuko's, is brought in with a cut to his forehead from a fight. But Naoe has gone out for a drink, and can't be found. Both Toda and the ambulance crew become angry and demand to know where the doctor is. Naoe returns and seeing the commotion, he orders Toda be locked in a toilet until he calms down. Nobuko is horrified by Naoe' s attitude but is later impressed with his ability as a surgeon when treating Toda's injury. This is their first fateful meeting.

    The drama is set in the post town of Tenma, Osaka. Matsukichi's father was a samurai and was killed by someone seeking vengeance. Matsukichi himself was almost killed too, but he was rescued by Wasuke, the owner of the Kanten (Japanese gelatin) wholesale shop Ikawaya, at the price of 2 silver kans (currency of the Edo period, 1 kan = 100 pcs). Abandoning the life of a samurai, Matsukichi works at Ikawaya as an apprentice, in order to repay Wasuke. The 2 silver kans used to ransom Matsukichi were actually intended for the rebuilding of the Tenmangu shrine, which had been destroyed by fire. The drama follows the life of Matsukichi, as he struggles in his new life as a merchant amidst bullying, love and challenges of the trade.
