Dong, an aspiring actor who is finally getting a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fame, wakes up with a dead woman, Meng, beside him. Unable to piece together the night before, Dong is determined not to let it stand in his way. He cleans up the scene and sets it up like a robbery went wrong, but unknowingly leaves traces of himself to be found. While the police search the apartment, it turns out all the residents have something to hide. Unravelling the cause of Meng’s death proves difficult, as everyone seems to have a motive for this murder...

The name of the series is inspired by a popular Taiwanese nursery rhyme, which contains lyrics that tell the story of a monkey's life over seven days. Each episode is loosely based on a line from the song.

An accident entwines the lives of two complete strangers. He takes out a traveler’s check and writes, “If you’re not married by the age of 30, leave it up to me!” and gives it to Man Man. Three years pass, and the incident is all but forgotten – until Man Man bumps into Bu Fan again on a train. When Bu Fan learns that Man Man is not yet married, can he keep the promise he made on the traveler’s check three years ago to a woman he doesn’t even know?

We see bits of her life: when Hao-Hao steals his father's Rolex and the police detain them; when she gets a job as a club hostess, where she meets Jack, who becomes her patron and protector; when Hao-Hao comes to the club, insisting on talking to her; when she visits Yubari, Japan, for its film festival in the dead of winter; when Jack must go to Japan to straighten out trouble caused by one of his acolytes. Does Vicky have any expectations? Does time simply pass?
