Based on strange events believed by many locals to have taken place in Chiang Mai late last century, the story opens with 40-ish marketer named Thi, his wife Parn, his rebellious teenage daughter Nan and lively young son Nat moving from Bangkok to Laddaland, an upmarket housing estate located in Chiangmai. Convinced that his new job with a company that sells dietary supplements is the answer to all his troubles, Thi ignores Parn's legitimate concern over hefty mortgage payments; he also believes that the move will lift Nan's deep-seated resentment of him and Parn, who left the girl with her grandmother for much of her childhood. Following the grisly murder of a Burmese housemaid and Thi's unpleasant encounter with wife-beating next-door neighbour Somkiat, ghosts start appearing before Nan, who is unable to convince her parents that she's not making up these supernatural incidents...

Tony Leung Ka Fai and Danny Lee star in the 1990 police thriller Blue Lightning. City of Life and Death takes place in 1937, during the height of the Second Sino-Japanese War. The Imperial Japanese Army has just captured the then-capital of the Republic of China, Nanjing. What followed was known as the Nanking Massacre, or the Rape of Nanking, a period of several weeks wherein tens of thousands of Chinese soldiers and civilians were killed. The film tells the story of several figures, both historical and fictional, including a Chinese soldier, a schoolteacher, a Japanese soldier, a foreign missionary, and John Rabe, a Nazi businessman who would ultimately save thousands of Chinese civilians.

People face their fears hidden in their everyday life and their fears become part of their routine. Hyun Jung is a woman unable to smile. Hyun Soo is looking for a job and she wants to have a relationship. Hoon is a lonely university student. Ki Jin gives up on getting a job and he is in a shameless romance. Yeon Jin is working part-time at a convenience store and she hates people. Seung Jin is a middle school student who dreams of becoming a hero. These six people are connected by different cases.

Pao Lung-Sing (Stephen Chow), a decendant of the famous Judge Pao Ching Tient, is a 9th degree corrupt judge (lowest degree) who changes his tune when he tries to champion a woman Chi Siu-Lin (Cheung Man), who was framed for killing her husband. As a result, Pao is forced to flee and through a series of events (often hilarious) becomes a 1st degree judge and comes back to wreak havoc and justice on the guilty.

Ha-jun is always popular with his friends for his handsome looks. Min-woo, a close friend who is jealous of Ha-jun, summons a devilish ghost, but the ghost who fell in love with Ha-jun spends a hot night with Ha-jun every day. One day, he steals Jung Hwan’s bag to help pay for his son's tuition fee. Jung Hwan is the son of a wealthy Korean family who is pro-Japanese. Yet, Jung Hwan is a representative of the Korean Language Society. By meeting Jung Hwan, Pan Soo's life soon changes. They work together to publish a Korean language dictionary.
