The story revolves around computer programmer Tori Shinichi, who’s also a self-appointed hikikomori, and his friend Sakaki Tsukasa, who’s a life insurance company employee. Solving all sorts of mysterious incidents that arise around them, they mature throughout the encounters with various people.

The story takes place in 2007; four children from Shu De Faculty and Staff Family Hospital entered high school together, welcoming their sixteenth year of life. They form their own clique named "No. 1992", and embark on a journey filled with dreams, growth and warmth.

Makimura Kimiko, freelance journalist and city-girl extraordinaire, marries into a traditional Japanese family. A group of young people with a love for mountaineering face their fears and take a step forward in an inspirational journey through life. Lin Feng is a university student who hopes to bring back the glory days of the mountaineering club. She meets Xia Di, a member of the previous mountaineering club. The two realize that they have similar hopes and dreams and that their relationship dates further back as it is tied to a mountaineering incident five years ago. It becomes the catalyst for a story about love and salvation, growing up and letting go.

Based on the biblical story of Adam and Eve's first two sons, Cain and Abel is about Cain's jealousy towards his brother Abel. Lee Cho In is a very gifted doctor who has everything that he wants whereas his older brother, Seon Woo, is jealous of all the attention that Cho In receives. Seon Woo blames his brother for taking everything good in his life away from him. Seon Woo blames Cho In for getting their father's love, getting more recognition as a doctor, and for stealing the woman he loves.

The series is based loosely on Jin Yong's novel Ode to Gallantry. Twins Shek Chung Yuk is cunning, smart, and a fast thinker, while Shek Po Tin is more sentimental, naive, and innocent. The twins were separated at birth. Their parents were known as 'Black and White Swords' in the mo lam world. After killing the godson of "Ghost", Ghost returned on the twins' one month birthday to avenge his godson. The parents could only save Chung Yuk and believed that Po Tin was killed due to a sword through his heart. Because they were afraid of 'Ghost', 'Black and White Swords' lived a discreet life and did not teach any martial arts to Chung Yuk. During all those years, Po Tin was raised by a hunter. In one incidence involving Yuk's encounter with Ding Dan, his parents' identities are revealed. To protect Yuk, he was sent to 'Snow Sect' to learn martial arts. On the other side, baby Tin was saved and raised in the forest by the hunter. Later, the hunter dies and Tin was cheated by the leader of 'Heaven Union'. They lied about his origins and forced him to become the leader of 'Heaven Union'.
