Sokoi Takehachi and Tsumura Aki are journalists working for the "Weekly Dodongo". Their editor, Yamazaki Jiro, had assigned them to stake out former state assemblyman Okase Shohei, who is about to be released from prison. 7 years ago, Okase was found guilty of misappropriating state funds amounting to 100 mil yen. However, only 70 mil yen were accounted for during the trial. Yamazaki has a hunch that upon his release, Okase will be retrieving that money from wherever he had hidden it. Both Takehachi and Aki had tailed Okase to the racecourse, and from there to a street near Kagurazaka, Tokyo, where they lost him. Next thing they know, the news world is abuzz with the rumor that Okase had found the body of a strangled man at a cemetery in Katsuura, Chiba. Yamazaki's instinct tells him that the murder has something to do with the unaccounted for money, and so he decides to bring Takehachi along with him to call on Okase. They pay a visit to the Nishida Stables, where they are introduced to the stable hand, Suekichi Hideo, the stable owner, Nishida Ryuzo and one of the racehorse's owner, state assemblyman Tateyama Torahei. Yamazaki decides against bringing up the matter of Okase, which puzzles Takehachi, but yet Yamazaki does not share his reason for doing so with him. Not long after, a trunk is found in the forests of Mizusawa, Iwate. In it is a corpse of a man. How is the corpse related to Okase? Why was it stuffed inside the trunk?

My Date with a Vampire is a 1998 Hong Kong television series produced by ATV. The story is based on the future events of the plot of Vampire Expert, a similar two-season television drama aired on ATV in 1995 and 1996. It blends aspects of the jiangshi (Chinese "hopping" vampire) with those of western vampires, while injecting elements of Chinese mythology and modern horror legends. The series is a tribute to Lam Ching-ying, the lead actor of Vampire Expert and a prominent cast member in the Mr. Vampire franchise, who died of liver cancer in 1997. It was followed by My Date with a Vampire II (1999) and My Date with a Vampire III (2004). Fong Kwok-wah is a Chinese guerrilla fighter from the time of the Second Sino-Japanese War. In 1938, he was fighting with Yamamoto Ichifu, a major of the Imperial Japanese Army, when they were interrupted by Cheung San, the progenitor of all vampires. The two men and a boy named Fuk-sang were bitten by Cheung San and they become vampires. In present-day 1998, Fong lives in Hong Kong under a new name, Fong Tin-yau. His physical appearance has not changed since 60 years ago. He works as a policeman while Fuk-sang lives together with him and pretends to be his son, who currently attends primary school. Fong meets Ma Siu-ling, the heiress to a clan of ghostbusters who have dedicated themselves to ridding the world of evil supernatural beings. Fong gradually becomes embroiled in a love triangle with Ma and Wong Jan-jan, Ma's close friend and confidante. On the other hand, Yamamoto has become the influential boss of a big company, and he commands a small group of vampire followers. Planning to turn every human being into a vampire, Yamamoto unleashes his minions to attack people and spread the "vampire gene". The plot of “Dao Jarut Fah” centers around two feuding likay (folk opera) bands: Sao Noi Phet Baan Paeng and the Nu Paan Wiset Sin. Dao and Fah are two sisters from the “Sao Noi Phet Baan Paeng” likay band, their father Ken is the owner. One day, Ken collapses on stage and falls ill. He was overwhelmed by the fact that his shows were being sabotaged by Busaba, owner of the “Nu Paan Wiset Sin” band. Busaba hired men to cause havoc and lure audiences away from the “Sao Noi Phet Baan Paeng” shows. After shortly falling ill, Ken dies. Dao blames Busaba and her band for her father’s death and decides to go undercover to get revenge. She auditioned to be the new singer for the “Nu Paan Wiset Sin” band. Dao impressed them with her lovely voice and they gave her the leading nang’ek role. During her 1 month stay with the “Nu Paan Wiset Sin” band, Dao falls in love with Pon, the band’s leader. They develop a close relationship. For that 1 month, Dao trains hard in singing and acting for the “Nu Paan Wiset Sin” band. Then comes the likay competition night, Dao ditches the “Nu Paan Wiset Sin” band, leaving them without a singer and sings for her band, the “Sao Noi Phet Baan Paeng”. Pon is devastated when he learns the truth. Before the competiton, he confessed his love for her. Pon starts seeing Fah, Dao’s older sister to hurt Dao for deceiving him and his bandmates. After the competition, Dao and Pon became enemies.

On his way for delivery, Ning Cai Chen met a beautiful woman, Xiao Qian, in the woods. She asked him to stay with her for the night and he did. Unbeknownst to him, Xiao Qian was a fox demon who seduced men into staying and sucked their soul while they were sleeping. Fortunately for Ning, he was rescued by the Maoshan Taoist priest, Yan Chi Xia. Ning's near-death experience didn't deter him from falling in love with Xiao Qian. Instead, he tried to save her. He found out that Xiao Qian was controlled by Lao Lao, a tree demon who used Xiao Qian to gather men's souls. Because Xiao Qian failed to obtain Ning's soul, Lao Lao punished her by marrying her to Heshen Lao Yao, a powerful skeleton demon. Ning, with the help of Yan, planned to crash the wedding and save Xiao Qian.
