After the huge success of Reincarnated, the station followed up in 1979 with another popular period piece Dragon Strikes, again written by novelist Huang Yi and screenwriter Kong Lung. Set in the Ming Dynasty, Dragon Strikes follows swordsman Xiao Yiu Hau and the dangerous power struggle and tangle of corruption and conspiracies he encounters in the royal court and the martial arts world. The power struggle is evident both in the palace as well as in the martial arts world. This series focused on that of the 3 big clans with the Siu Yiu clan, Pai Ling clan, and the South Gate clan. Rivalry and politics of the palace mixed with the martial arts world make this a martial arts extravaganza!

When Easterly Showers Fall on the Sunny West (Traditional Chinese: 東山飄雨西關晴) is a Hong Kong TVB period drama series broadcasting from October till December 2008. Story takes place in the early 1930s in the city of Guangzhou (China) and revolved around the rich and prestigious Poon family. TVB's poetically titled 2008 anniversary drama When Easterly Showers Fall on the Sunny West sets the stage for family struggle, romantic conflict, and financial strife in the turbulence of early 20th century China. Veteran actress Liza Wang leads the cast of this 30-episode grand drama, along with top TVB stars Joe Ma and Charmaine Sheh as the story's fated couple. The cast includes new-generation stars Raymond Wong, Edwin Siu, Natalie Tong, Selena Li, and Zac Kao as well as character actors Evergreen Mak, Cheung Kwok Keung, Kiki Sheung, amd Kwok Fung. In her youth, Poon clan matron Fung Yee (Liza Wang) abandoned her baby son to hide the stigma of giving birth out of wedlock. Years later, her son Hing (Joe Ma) has grown up through tough circumstances, and ends up working as a chauffeur for the Poon family after saving his brother Wah (Raymond Wong) by chance. When Hing's identity is revealed, his status as Poon family's eldest son is restored, throwing the family into a state of turbulent ambivalence. Wah's relationship with poor girl Ching (Charmaine Sheh) also heads for the rocks because of his mother's disapproval, but Hing grows closer to Ching while helping her set up her own shop. CHONG FUNG YEE (Wang Ming Chun, Liza), the first daughter-in-law in the family, has to admit unwillingly the fact that when she married into the family she was already pregnant. His true identity revealed, HING changes his name to POON CHEUK HING according to the genealogical table of the clan. The mother and son have since been locked in a seesaw struggle. High school student Hoshi Izumi (Nagasawa Masami) loses her father suddenly in an accident. One day, Sakuma (Tsutsumi Shinichi), the waka gashira of a small and weak Yakuza gang in Asakusa – the Medaka Gumi – pays Izumi a visit along with the gang members. The death of their former kumicho (Boss) puts Medaka Gumi on the verge of a breakup. Therefore, Sakuma begs Izumi, the former boss's only distant relative left, to succeed to the kumicho position. Izumi is taken by surprise and keeps refusing at first. However, she ends up becoming the 8th kumicho of the Medaka Gumi! The police tell her that her father's death may possibly be a homicide case. There's also Mayumi (Koizumi Kyoko), a mysterious woman staring closely at Izumi's father's photograph at his funeral. The situation becomes complicated when the drug-dealing vicious yakuza, Hamaguchi Gumi, comes into the picture as well as Sandaiji Hajime (Ogata Ken), a politician whose public stance is to eliminate drugs. --TBS

The heroine, Shinko, is a daring character who doesn't get impressed by power and influence but mercilessly pursues the scoundrels. She who used to be a swindler and has a difficult personality gets scouted by the division and is paired up with the elite rookie, Kudo who is a graduate of Tokyo University and comes from a family of government officials.
