Yuichi Mafune is known as a finance broker, but he's actually a conman. One day, two men show up in front of Yuichi. One man is "M" and the other is his underling Yuki Seki. They ask Yuichi Mafune to steal the "M funds". The "M funds" is thought to be a longheld legend that massive amounts of gold and other stolen loot from World War II were hidden in the basement of a Japanese bank. The loot was then taken by the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces to fund secret operations.

Yuichi accepts the proposal after hearing of the large fee offerred if successful. In order to steal the "M funds," which Yuichi isn't even sure if it exists, "M" plans an unprecedented money game which brings in interests from the U.S., Russia and other places.

The story revolves around Ichiko, a woman who has been in a state of withdrawal at home for 18 years. Chatting on the internet with Ryo is the only way she can connect with the outside world. Ichiko’s mother Hasumi talks to her through the door every day, but one day she suddenly collapses.

There, he forms a weight-lifting team comprised of a rag-tag group of outcasts.

Ji-Yeon (Park Eun-Hye) works as a tollgate ticket girl and tonight she's got the night shift. All of a sudden all the lights go out and a mysterious black car drives up to her booth. Classical music can be heard from inside the car and a female hand reaches out and gives Ji-yeon the ticket. When the car has driven away, Ji-yeon notices that the ticket is stained with blood. Tsubame (Kaya Kiyohara) is a 14-year-old girl. She has a crush on university student Toru (Kentaro Ito), who lives in the same neighborhood. Tsubame lives in a warm environment with her father Toshio (Hidetaka Yoshioka) and stepmother Asako (Maki Sakai), but, one day, she learns that Asako is pregnant. She feels left out because of her stepmother's pregnancy and she also feels frustrated because she can't reveal her love to Toru. The rooftop of her calligraphy class is the only place where Tsubame can find solace. There, she feels the wind and looks up at the stars. One night, Tsubame goes on the rooftop as usual. She finds a strange kickboard scooter and a mysterious old woman Hoshi-baa (Kaori Momoi) appears in front of her.
