Late in the 10th century, the Liao dynasty is at the zenith of its power. The omnipotent Liao rule much of what is now Northeast China, Mongolia, Russia, and much of the Korean Peninsula. Prime Minister Xiao Si Wen and Princess Yan have three daughters, with the youngest, Xiao Chao, their favourite. Her heart belongs to the aspiring military commander, Han De Rang, whose family have served the Liao loyally for decades. However, her parents have other plans, sucessfully arranging her marriage to Liao Emperor, Jin Zhong, whom she eventually concedes to marry. As the Emperor’s queen, she becomes a fierce defender of the Liao by assisting in mobilizing the army, heading a 10,000-strong cavalry and providing support to the civil administration. Eventually, she will earn the title of Empress.

Meanwhile, Han De Rang has continued his own rise through the ranks of both the military and government, becoming a powerful general and minister. Xiao Chao will stop at nothing to help the realm, but can she manage to contain her feelings for Han De Rang? In turn, can he control his heart, which still beats for his childhood sweetheart, the now Empress?

The drama is set in the early 70s. The period when poverty ruled everything, but there's hope, and people who were happy because of their families. They are the main characters of this drama. The two brothers who have only youth and spirit, Suk Jin and Chul Jin and Min Joo, Yun Shil's love, the big and small setbacks of life. And through the process of overcoming it, it refers to the infinite possibilities of youth, the most beautiful period of life.

Immortal Wu Xin, is unfortunate enough to be doomed to eternal poverty. He doesn’t know if he’s human or a demon, where he came from or where his future should lead. During the Qing dynasty (around 1862-1874), he and his lover retired to the mountains. By the Republican era, however, his beloved has died, and Wu Xin is so poor that he leaves his mountain and pretends to be a monster-hunting monk in order to survive.

After their epic live show, before they could have their major debut, the music band, SHARK had to suspend their activities due to Mizuki's problems with his throat.Irie Saku is the leader of the 4-men rock band, "Cloud Five". Before they made their debut, vocalist Sato Yuto is busy going round winning over their female fans. In the meantime, to make them more marketable, the music producer Matsuyuki Hisashi decides to launch them as indies with a song that he had composed. Guitarist Shindo Kota, who is Saku's buddy, is very unhappy over the direction their music is taking. He stubbornly believes the song is not in line with the usual ballads they have been performing. Soon after, Kota is involved in a fight, betraying the childhood promise he had made to Saku.

When Liu Shu Qi was a child, her father died leaving her family in destitute. Gao Xiao Jie generously helped her family get back to their feet. He is planning to lock himself away at a hot spring for the next three months to concentrate on his next project. Yumi stumbles into the room, looking for somewhere to change out of her kimono. Sakurai comments that if Yumi were to join him he wouldn't mind being away for so long...
