The godfather Principal in the black run is killed by his heeler A Yi who is brought up by himself. His step wife Xiao Sao is then taken by A Yi. Only after receiving the card representing the position of the boss left by the principal, can A Yi become the perfectly justifiable boss of the sinister gang and collect money through the opening of the gambling city with the south ocean big shot Zhong Fuguo. The crucial card is passed down to his spoiled granddaughter Xiao Yu by the Principal at his last breath. Therefore, Xiao Yu is chased by A Yi. Fortunately, two old friends of the principal: the dead shot and the resourceful man return to protect her in revenge for the principal as the fulfillment to their promises made years ago to the principal. If a balls-out, no-holds-barred, raw and raunchy crime flick doesn't sound like your kind of thing, you can stop reading right here. How many of us are left? Good. So, for the rest of us, Kinji Fukasaku crafts another typical yet hugely entertaining slice of yakuza action. If you have seen any number of his films from the early 70's, you'll be treading very familiar territory with Outlaw Killers. It's another take on the typical "yakuza foot-soldier is released after doing time in prison for a hit on an enemy gang and finds it hard to adjust to the new conditions; hilarity ensues" plot. However despite the lack of originality, Fukasaku makes up for it with a breakneck pace and hard-boiled grittiness. Every other minute someone gets beaten, blackmailed, robbed, raped, stabbed, beaten some more, beaten with a crowbar and generally brutalized in all sorts of manners. Never a dull moment. What kicks things up a notch is Fukasaku's trademark style. All the hand-held shots and dutch angles might seem arbitrary to the uninitiated, but we're talking about a master director at work here; you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who can place you right in the middle of the action better than he does. The "messy", anarchic look of it all is just a different form of stylization, yet it's obvious it suits the material like a glove. Every fight has a vibrant, palpable feel to it. You can almost taste the salty blood on your lips. He has a great ally of course in a cast full of familiar faces, spearheaded by the ever reliable Bunta Sugawara. Most of the actors appearing in Japanese films are great physical actors and this ensemble is no exception. Overall, Outlaw Killers is by no means a subtle, sophisticated film. No, it's rough and gritty and personally I wouldn't have it any other way.

Makoto Fukamachi (Junichi Okada) is a Japanese cameraman. He finds an old camera on a backstreet of Nepal. The camera might possibly solve the mystery of whether George Mallory became the first person to successfully climb Mount Everest on June 8, 1924 or not. Pursuing the old camera's past, Makoto Fukamachi meets legendary Alpinist Joji Habu (Hiroshi Abe). Joji Habu is isolated from other people because of his reckless and thoughtless personality.

In this updated homage to the 1930 German silent film of the same title, Thai artist Tulapop Saenjaroen examines the paradox of people relaxing while being filmed. As a film shoot appears to be in perpetual delay, crew members kill time fiddling on their smartphones, all the while under the persistent gaze of the camera.

The story opens with a monologue from a young film-maker looking back on his first, lost love. Having just completed his first film, he is supposed to be preparing a draft of his next script. But feeling restless and a little lost, he is instead on a boat, heading for a motel on a remote island, where 10 years earlier, he once vacationed with his first girlfriend. Back then, they swore to meet there again in ten years time and he is keeping that date, although he strongly doubts that she would show. As the days pass and the time for them to meet again comes closer, he becomes the portrait of a man, waiting for a past, which may or may not return to him.
