Taiwan's parliament turns deadly when a virus transforms politicians into ravenous zombie mutants.

Writer Tsutomu lives alone at a mountain cabin in Nagano. He collects fruits and mushrooms from the mountain. He also raises vegetables in a field. Everyday, he cooks his meals with these natural ingredients. Doing that, he can feel the flow of the seasons and he writes his book. Sometimes, his editor/girlfriend Machiko visits him. They cook with seasonal ingredients and eat together. They have a good time together. Tsutomu seems to be enjoying an easygoing life, but he is still unable to bury his dead wife’s ashes in a grave. His wife died 13 years ago.

In the future, technology has gotten so advanced that cyborgs have been created with their own individual specializations and consciousness. As the hours slip by, the autopsy reveals startling new evidence, witnesses provide complicating testimony and lack of sleep takes its toll on the investigators as internal tensions begin to mount. Then matters take a turn for the weird when the TV producers bring in a spiritualist and her daughter to summon the victim’s ghost…

In 960, while discussing a story of a strange theft, Abe no Seimei and Minamoto no Hiromasa are approached by Kamo no Yasunori. He tells them that 20 years ago, during the rebellion of Taira no Masakado, he saw what appered to be a cursed Taira no Sadamori. Upon visiting Sadamori, they talk to his doctor, Shosen, and the doctor's assistant Kisaragi and witness what seems to be an eye opening on Sadamori's forehead and realize he is being taken over by someone. Abe no Seimei comes to realize someone intends to revive Taira no Masakado.

Rookie movie director Koichi (Shun Oguri) and his crew travels to the mountain village of Yamamura to film his next movie. The villagers are eventually enlisted to help film the movie and, in particular, 60-year-old lumberjack Katsuhiko (Koji Yakusho) helps against his will.
