The family of Zhu Kai Shan came to Baishan Heishui from their hometown in Shandong because of war and famine. They panned for gold, fell wood, collected ginseng, fought with bandits, officials, and feudalism, and escaped death time and time again; finally, they had their own pastoral fields, but the local tycoons regarded them as "foreigners" and made things difficult for them. After several battles, the Zhu family taught the more advanced farming techniques in Shandong to the local people, and the local people also formed life and death brothers with them; in order to develop, Zhu Kai Shan led the whole family to the city again, but he didn't want to be attacked by "Jehe".

Kongpop's dad and Namnueng's dad used to be good friends. They even invested their own money in the pub business together. This business went too well and Kongpop's dad betrayed his own friend and stole the whole business for himself, 20 years past by and Kongpop's dad knew that he would die soon and because of his guilt for what he did he gave Namnueng a large amount of money. When his dad died, Kongpop came back from the US for the funeral and found out about the will of his dad, he became very mad and wanted to get back at Kongpop. He makes her fall in love with him so that she will sign over all of the money. After she finds out Namnueng wants nothing to do with Kongpop, too bad he just realized that he was in love with her.

KO One is a class designed especially for the delinquents and rejects that other high schools would not accept. Even so, everyone in the class is loyal to the leader, Da Dong (KO.3), and would die for friends. Tied for #3, Ya Se, and #4, Xiao Yu soon joins the class. Out of some fortuitous events, their lives become tied together and they become best buddies. Another student, Lei Ke Si, who had been gone for a whole semester, rejoins the class. Although Lei Ke Si seems like a weak kid with only good intentions, Ya Se suspects he is KO.2 because legend say #1 and #2 are capable of concealing their true identities. At the same time, incidents start to occur and the culprit always leads to Ya Se. Is Ya Se wrongly accused? Will the class be able to stand the politics or will it be driven apart?

Kagura Akane (Horikita Maki) is the only daughter of a family who runs a teppanyaki place in downtown Tokyo. Akane had always been proud of her father Tetsuma, who was called the "No.1 teppanyaki chef in Japan". Growing up in such an environment, she naturally acquired "teppanyaki skills". However, when her mother died of illness, her father lost his energy to work and disappeared. Since then, Akane has managed and protected the restaurant all by herself. One day, out of the blue, she is visited by Erena (Katase Nana), the rich daughter of a major food company, who orders Akane to move out at once because her father had borrowed money against his restaurant. Though feeling disappointed, Akane makes up her mind to close the store. But when her father's friend, Kurogane (Jinnai Takanori), shows her "Ittetsu", a grilling plate that Akane's father cherished, it reignites her passion towards teppanyaki. In order to protect the restaurant, she embarks on a journey with Shinta (Tsukamoto Takashi) to search for her father, but wherever she goes, she ends up getting involved in culinary battles.

Wong Tin (Adam Cheng) is an all-powerful tycoon in town. While he is the one who stirs things up, he is also the only one who can settle them. Bao Man Lung (Ekin Cheng) sees Tin as his mentor as well as his friend. He is truthful with and loyal to Tin, yet he is bruised all over in the end! Poon Long Ching (Roger Kwok) worships Tin. His is determined to get rich and famous, by fair means or foul. Nevertheless, he ends up being used by Tin's enemy to fight against Tin.

The story centers around four girls, who were all born in 1965 and lived on the same corner street, on how they adapt to the culture changes brought on by Taiwan's economic boom of the 1980's.

The show was aired in East Germany in 1976 under the title Das Geheimnis der Felsengrotte, and had only one re-run in 1977.

Following in the same theme of dangerous discoveries, the "Pandora's box" for the new series will be a medical treatment invented to prevent suicides. Eguchi plays Suzuki, a neuroscience researcher in a wheelchair who develops the treatment out of his desire to counter Japan's high suicide rate. --Tokyograph
