Song Ki Baek is single and 33 years old. He works as an announcer at a broadcasting station. People consider him an ideal announcer. He is polite and well-mannered. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department creates a new division which consists of 5 female detectives. The new division is called Higanbana which is a flower with a poison root. The 5 female detective have their own specialties and sensitivities. The women try to solve a murder that took place at the wedding of a female doctor. Detective Nagisa Kinomiya (Maki Horikita) is a member of Higanbana. She has the special ability of sensing a criminal’s murderous intent and ill will.

Takeuchi Miharu (Maya Miki) is a capable lawyer with a law firm in Nagoya who gets to handle a divorce case assigned by their head Mizuno Toyohiko (Tachi Hiroshi). Gohara Naoki (Yoshizawa Hisashi), the president of the company, wants to divorce his wife Nobue (Kone Hana) who left their 5-year-old son behind and moved out. Nobue does not want to give up her child. The case seems to complicate Miharu because she had experienced divorce too and was deprived of custody of her daughter Kanae, who she has not seen in 10 years. She hesitantly starts working on the case but gradually gets absorbed in it.

While she is the husband’s attorney, the solution she offers reflects Nobue’s feelings. This offends the client company and the law firm’s advisory contract is terminated. She resigned.

Nobue arrives with the twin sisters. She believes they can count on Miharu who identified with her own divorce issues. Miharu does all in her power to try to pull the twins’ broken family together. She got convinced to start a divorce counselling centre. On the day of the opening of ‘Takeuchi Harumi Divorce Counselling Centre’, a young lady stares at the signboard of the centre with a surly expression. She is Miharu’s daughter, Kanae (Taketomi Seika), who is now an adult.

A young Bao Zheng heads to the capital for the civil service examinations. He encounters several mysteries, thus beginning a legendary tale as he works with Gongsun Ce and Zhan Zhao to crack the case.

The story has three main chapters. Bao Da Niang mistakenly becomes involved in a case. Bao Zheng tries to clear his mother's name but it brings to light a massacre related to the ghost bride. On the way to the capital, Bao Zheng enters the Wuji Inn where he uses his intelligence to uncover the mysteries in the blood spirit forest. Finally, the Soul Village seems to be connected to a big conspiracy in the palace.

The story is set in the Qing dynasty during the reign of Emperor Yong Zheng. Yong Zheng's harsh and brutal policies lead to widespread discontent and dissension. Meanwhile, a secret death squad, named after their dreaded weapon — the flying guillotine — goes around slaying the emperor's enemies. The young crown prince, Hong Li, disguises himself as a commoner and embarks on an inspection tour to Jiangnan. There, the prince evades assassination attempts orchestrated by nobles plotting to seize the throne, and uncovers a shocking truth about his birth and origin. Besides, he also meets and befriends two maidens, Lu Si Niang and Yu Niang.
