Twin brothers Kazuya (Keita Saito) and Tatsuya (Shota Saito) are friends with the girl Minami (Masami Nagasawa) since their childhood days. They share a common fascination for baseball and promises that they will become good enough to take Minami to the tournament at the Koshien stadium. Kazuya becomes an impressive pitcher but Tatsuya becomes more interested in boxing. It is obvious that Tatsuya is taking a backseat for his brother as both of them have feelings for Minami. When fate prevents Kazuya from keeping their shared promise, his brother has to shoulder the burden and train to become a great pitcher again. Uploader's Comments: This is based on a manga, which also serves as the basis for a long-running anime series. I'm not familiar with either of those and I haven't had the time to watch this yet, so I can't say all that much. It did look quite cute when I grabbed the screens and Masami is Masami.

Sasai Ryosuke, a translator who used to be a university lecturer, stays in a small Western-style house that stands at the back of Kishimojindo Temple in Tokyo’s Toshima ward. He has been living alone ever since his wife passed away. While he has perfected both housework and cooking now, the same cannot be said about his work.

He does not meet deadlines and as a result, Nomura, who is Ryosuke’s editor in charge, always tears his hair out. Furthermore, a neighbor Haraguchi Mitsuyo comes to the house uninvited every day, using his late wife’s request to take care of him as an excuse. Ryosuke has one daughter Yuriko. She is married to his former student Tabuchi Shigeyuki, who is an English language teacher, and lives in some town in Azumino in Nagano Prefecture. But one day, Yuriko comes back to her father’s house. Ryosuke is surprised by her sudden return without contacting him. He asks for the reason but she makes no attempt to speak. The only thing he knows is that she is undecided about how long she will stay. As they have barely had a father-daughter chat before, there is an awkward atmosphere between the two of them. This is how Ryosuke and Yuriko start living together. Despite their nerves, it is warm and peaceful. However, the truth is that she does not have long to live. What is the decision that Yuriko has kept to herself and what will her father do when he finds out about it?

    Island Etude (2006)

    Island Etude
    Genre:
    Drama
    Country:
    Taiwanese
A Taiwanese film that effectively shows the beauty of Taiwan, Taiwan's official entry to the Academy Awards is definitely more worthy than its "substitute" status.  When looking back to the summer of 2007, Island Etude may be remembered as the directorial debut of famed cinematographer En Chen (who worked on Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-Hsien's classics City of Sadness and Good Men, Good Women), or as the highest-grossing Taiwanese film of the year. However, Ang Lee's Lust, Caution then came along and changed everything; not only did the espionage drama take over as Taiwan's highest-grossing Chinese film of the year, it got rejected by the Academy Awards for "not being Taiwanese enough", leaving Island Etude to become Taiwan's official entry to the 2008 Oscars. Despite its "substitute status", Island Etude is actually the perfect choice to represent the island nation: it's a beautifully-shot homage to the island's people, its sights, and the sport of bicycle riding that is thankfully free of any political views or pretentious art-house technique.First-time actor Tung Ming-Hsiang plays Ming, a young college student whose lifelong hearing problem causes him to communicate via slurred speech. Carrying a guitar on his back and lacking few concrete reasons, he decides to bike around the island of Taiwan by himself months before his college graduation...
