After suffering from serial paranormal events, a wealthy family living in LA summons a young rising shaman duo Hwa Rim and Bong Gil to save the newborn of the family. Once they arrive, Hwa Rim senses a dark shadow of their ancestor has latched on the family in a so-called 'Grave Calling'.

In order to exhume the grave and relieve the ancestor, Hwa Rim seeks help from top-notch geomancer Sang Deok and mortician Yeong Geun. To their dismay, the four find the grave at a shady location in a remote village in Korea. The story is set in the late 1970s and early 1980s, in a small town in Mainland China. A middle-aged couple has three children. In 1928, a group of boys in Taiwan play on the local team Kano. The team has never scored a run or won a baseball game. A former baseball player (Masatoshi Nagase) now accountant in Taiwan decides to manage the unusual group of local and Japanese boys. His goal is to take the team to Koshien (Japan's national baseball championships for high schools).

Fumie (Sawa Suzuki) marries yakuza Tetsuo (Masayuki Imai) and she gives birth to their son Tetsuya. Fumie raises Tetsuya with love, but while she experiences tough times she becomes addicted to drugs. After Fumie receives treatment at a hospital for her addiction, she moves to her parents' house with Tetsuya. At her parents' home, Fumie experiences withdrawals and is hospitalized again. Meanwhile, Tetsuya is sent to an orphange until he graduates from elementary school. Tetsuya grows up lonely, missing his mother. He becomes interested in an employee who plays the guitar. Finally, Tetsuya (Yuma Ishigaki) leaves the orphanage and looks for his mother. Tetsuya is shocked to learn that his mother Fumie lives with new man.
