While patrolling the Honjo area, Heizo Hasegawa encounters his old dojo companion and close friend, Samanosuke Kishii, as well as Hikoju of Sagami, a ruffian from Honjo. Samanosuke informs Heizo that the daughter they once admired, Ofusa, has been divorced and is now married into the household of the villainous lord, Jubei Matsuoka. When Hikoju investigates the circumstances surrounding this lord, it becomes clear that there are connections to the mentor of Heizo and Samanosuke from their youth, as well as revelations of wrongdoing.

From the director of 24 City, Award winner Zhang Kejia brings us a documentary/drama which focuses on the people, their stories and architecture spanning from the mid-1800s, when Shanghai was opened as a trading port, to the present day. The mood of Hai shang chuan qi is sentimental, atmospheric, and bittersweet. The plot centers around a reunion, city life, and social differences. It is a foreign, documentary, and historical movie. In approach, Hai shang chuan qi is serious and realistic. It takes place, at least partly, in an urban environment. The setting is China. Hai shang chuan qi happens in the 19th century and in the 20th century. The film received praise at the Cannes Film Festival.

Life, death, happiness, grief, come together in a magnificent production, with brilliant acting, especially by Woo-sung Jung, splendid cinematography, and a wonderful soundtrack. Some criticism might be levied against the film for it taking some liberties with reality, but I'll leave those for the nit-pickers to gaggle over. As with any foreign film, there are small things that fill out the film for those familiar with the culture and language. This film was wonderful not only on its merits as a film, but also as a reflection of Korean culture. Excellent film - most-highly recommended.

Hyeong-do, the head of a small printing company, hears that the kid who stole his motorcycle died in a traffic accident. Seong-cheul is a convicted pedophile who starts driving a cab after his salary from a construction site went unpaid. The uneventful daily lives of the two men in the depressing city are interrupted by a wild boar sighting. The description of a heartless city life and the shocking ending deliver a chilling blow.

She struggles to survive against the disaster.
