Facing an unacceptable reality, a teacher is trying to reclaim relationships with his family, students and former friends. Reassessing his past, he contemplates how to go on with his life.

When the world is hit with a naturally occuring virus that spreads among all living things, humans begin to turn into insatiable zombies. In a blink, the world as we know it collapses. Furthermore, the few remaining survivors are unable to use the available food resources. They therefore develop a new crop to support themselves. Survivors depend on one profession, their only hope; someone in this profession must brave the dangers to send and recieve food and packages of necessities. These people are called Riders.

Saeba Ryo is a "sweeper" in the city of Tokyo. He works as a trouble shooter, cleaning the streets of vermin, and helping out desperate people. Sometimes he's a bodyguard, sometimes he's an assassin, whatever Ryo does he does it well. In fact, his only flaw is his hormones - he loves the ladies and sometimes turns into an idiot when he's near them. Thankfully he's got people like his partner Kaori Makimura to keep him in check.

After suffering from serial paranormal events, a wealthy family living in LA summons a young rising shaman duo Hwa Rim and Bong Gil to save the newborn of the family. Once they arrive, Hwa Rim senses a dark shadow of their ancestor has latched on the family in a so-called 'Grave Calling'.

In order to exhume the grave and relieve the ancestor, Hwa Rim seeks help from top-notch geomancer Sang Deok and mortician Yeong Geun. To their dismay, the four find the grave at a shady location in a remote village in Korea. Unaware of the consequences, the exhumation is carried out, unleashing a malevolent force buried underneath.

20-years-old Cho-Won (Cho Seung-Woo) is young man with autism. He lives with his highly protective mother Kyung-Sook (Kim Mi-Sook) and younger brother (Baek Sung-Hyun), who sometimes resents the attention his older brother receives from his mother. Through special schooling and taking part in physical activities, Cho-Won has adjusted relatively well into society. Cho-Won also seems to have a knack for running. After placing third in a race, his mother decides to hire a proper coach to train her son. Cho-Won then decides to take part in a marathon. Cho-Won hopes to break the marathon's fastest record of three hours.

If a balls-out, no-holds-barred, raw and raunchy crime flick doesn't sound like your kind of thing, you can stop reading right here. How many of us are left? Good. So, for the rest of us, Kinji Fukasaku crafts another typical yet hugely entertaining slice of yakuza action. If you have seen any number of his films from the early 70's, you'll be treading very familiar territory with Outlaw Killers. It's another take on the typical "yakuza foot-soldier is released after doing time in prison for a hit on an enemy gang and finds it hard to adjust to the new conditions; hilarity ensues" plot. However despite the lack of originality, Fukasaku makes up for it with a breakneck pace and hard-boiled grittiness. Every other minute someone gets beaten, blackmailed, robbed, raped, stabbed, beaten some more, beaten with a crowbar and generally brutalized in all sorts of manners. Never a dull moment. What kicks things up a notch is Fukasaku's trademark style. All the hand-held shots and dutch angles might seem arbitrary to the uninitiated, but we're talking about a master director at work here; you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who can place you right in the middle of the action better than he does. The "messy", anarchic look of it all is just a different form of stylization, yet it's obvious it suits the material like a glove. Every fight has a vibrant, palpable feel to it. You can almost taste the salty blood on your lips. He has a great ally of course in a cast full of familiar faces, spearheaded by the ever reliable Bunta Sugawara. Most of the actors appearing in Japanese films are great physical actors and this ensemble is no exception. Overall, Outlaw Killers is by no means a subtle, sophisticated film. No, it's rough and gritty and personally I wouldn't have it any other way.
